A Winged Victory for the Sullen *New Album Nov 1st 2019*

'Following on from their superb, 9/10 rated self-titled debut album, Dustin O'Halloran and Adam Witzie, alias A Winged Victory For The Sullen, have confirmed a handful of UK and Irish dates for next year. This is undeniably good news for one and most. It kicks off in Manchester early in the New Year, but have a look below for the full details.

January:
14 - Manchester, Academy 3
15 - Glasgow, Oran Mor
16 - London, Cecil Sharpe House
17 - Reading, South Street
18 - Cork, Half Moon @ Opera House
19 - Dublin, The Sugar Club'

Received the vinyl yesterday, absolutely gorgeous. Part of it was recorded here in Brussels, apparently!

BTW - and I can't contain myself with this - have you seen who the support is??? It's only bloody SLEEPINGDOG!!!!! I just did a little wee of excitement. You can stick the Stone Roses reunion. THIS is the one!

On a slight downer, this is almost exactly when my long-awaited knee operation is (roughly) planned. I'm REALLY hoping I can go to this. Buying tickets anyway and then desperately crossing fingers...

The Quietus have a nice piece from their recent show in Krakow, Poland to stream, plus a special 'Winged Victory' remix of 'A Symphony Pathetique' by Montauk available too.

Top night in Reading yesterday!

Not only did my wife and I get to see the wonderful SleepingDog and Winged Victory... but I also had the distinct pleasure of meeting IanRedpoint and his better half. Top people both and a fine after-show pub chat covered everything from BOC (natch), My Bloody Valentine, fixing pinball machines (no, really) and the relative fates of vinyl records vs cds.

Also got to shake the hand of Adam Wiltzie, hopefully without becoming too gushing and fanboy in my praise. Think I might have failed on that last score however...

Sorry, I didn't and I'm pretty sure Ian didn't either. Was such an intimate gig it didn't feel right to be snapping away to be honest. Thought about asking Adam Wiltzie for a photo, but bottled out!

Cork gig was beautiful. Nice intimate setting, very good sound and appreciative crowd. Really needed to escape to this music and I felt it just wash over me. Got Sleepingdog and Sullen vinyl as well. Nice. Glad you guys enjoyed it too!!!!

Also, if anyone can recommend similar music to AWVFTS/SoTL I'd appreciate it.

What I'm really after is some classical music similar to their stuff. I have some Arvo Pärt/Gorecki to listen to but any other suggestions are appreciated.
