Still, for me it would have been preferable that he was just captured and brought to justice. No matter how evil he was, I think it's always better to prosecute a person rather than killing him without a process. Perhaps even more so for logical rather than plain ethical reasons; just like with the execution of Bin Laden, once you start killing people who are unanimously deemed exceedingly evil and criminal, you're simply transcending the jurisdiction that is supposed to give everyone a fair trial and breaking the logic on which it was founded. That is just my personal, idealistic opinion although I understand that events like these happen in the heat of the moment and his execution might not even have been intentional (I only read the headlines about this, I'm ignorant).machinea wrote:I just saw this.. sitting in a cafe perusing the news. Not surprised it ended this way. When your people have turned against you and have guns this is typically the way it goes.

But he was armed!
I agree with you there Guido, however the Christians didn't get to him first. If a EUR/AMER officer had found him before the insane he may have been placed on some kind of international trial, followed by a gruesome televised execution.
The world is so great. I can't wait until all the stinkers get chased out of Africa, which is next. The merc resistance are still in the theater, are they getting swooped up at the borders?

yeah but do they even live in a country with real due process? I'm serious, I have no idea how their justice system truly operates except that it is under Sharia Law. If you preside in a country without a legal system that can be somewhat depended upon to be fair and impartial (as if anything exists in the world but at least some make an effort) I don't imagine one can be expected to get such a thing once captured. Live by Sharia Law die by Sharia Law I guess. He ascended to power via a coup its not exactly unfitting that he dies the way he did. I don't mean to sound unsympathetic. I'm just saying that none of this is surprising in the least.

Nothing I can really add to the sentiments already conveyed.
I saw the video they just released. What a bloodbath. I'm happy he's been stopped, but I'm not happy about the death glorification. Mobs of people acting as though killing someone is cause for Mardi Gras is just morbid to me.

i'm not quite as fervent as that, but it'd be nice of the message (at least, what i THINK the message is to be) of OWS would be able to get the public a little bit better; that is, that it'd be nice if there wasn't so much lobbying, self-interest, and corruption in american politics.Rodheh wrote:mechanismj wrote:So which insane dictator is next on the list? I personally would like for it to be the entire United States government from the senate on up.
or any politics for that matter.
Kim Jong Il represents the most danger currently, if those nuclear tests were actually nuclear.

The way many newspapers posted pictures of him lynched and dead without a second thought was indecent.

Also, I know Chavez was a big deal for a while, but things have been pretty quiet down there lately.
