Suck a tit dry? Asking for a new BoC album these days is about akin to asking Abba for a reunion. Hell, Jim Morrison rising from the grave and getting The Doors back together would probably get better odds at the bookie.turquoise70 wrote:THIS THREAD IS OFFICIALLY THE 'SUBCONSCIOUS' OF THE 'MIND' THAT IS TWOISM
and all of you guys seriously man i swear find another band to obsess over until this one starts putting stuff out again, really, it's fun to geek out on bands but don't suck a dry tit ya know

This is the speculation thread so why are you being anti-speculative? It's so moderate and boring. I hardly listen to BoC but that doesn't keep me from hypothesizing about the bands future. I come here 3 times a week to work a problem: No new BoC. Once I surf away from this forum I don't care anymore.turquoise70 wrote:THIS THREAD IS OFFICIALLY THE 'SUBCONSCIOUS' OF THE 'MIND' THAT IS TWOISM

This isn't a general internet news site like "reddit". We should be able to talk critically about the band.
But every time someone writes something a little controversial or interesting "X member" will come along with this flat, pragmatic response about how other music exists or something.
I'd like to hear more strange theories instead of stuff we already know. I've been coming here since before TCH Ep. The theories are the only thing I find interesting anymore.
I'll bite, with the caveat that this is baseless speculation aside from what we've seen here and in interviews.isawdrones wrote:I'd like to hear more strange theories instead of stuff we already know. I think there is a good chance that there was a split between the two brothers when it comes to the desire to keep making music. 'MDG' being the brother who wants to continue, and keeps promising something soon, and the other brother having been the one who first made steps to move away across the world. It would go a long way towards explaining all of the false expectations that have been raised for us here over the last four years.
Nice theory, but MDG isn't one of the brothers.Bryan wrote: I think there is a good chance that there was a split between the two brothers when it comes to the desire to keep making music. The longer it goes by without a release, it does make MDG's "real soon now, honest" prediction in - what was it - 2009? seem wierder and wierder. I hope we do eventually find out what the big secret problem that delayed it for 3 years was. I'll laugh if it was just musician flakiness though, three years of "cannae be bothered".

I'm sorry but I think it's correlated with my personal situation the last months. It's been quite a rough time for me and all this reflects on my mood regarding the ongoing speculation.isawdrones wrote:Yeah, why the change of heart Fredd?saurus wrote:no! A subtle expression of them to express they're done making music.
Farewell fire...
Fredd you're one of the members that we can depend on to keep a level head on things if you begin conjecture we're ALL DOOMED
It's odd. I had the same thought the other night; "Farewell fire".
TCH EP seemed like a prelude to a new innovation. They backed off of the cliches and seemed to be heading towards a different singular expression. That release is strangely reserved. So part of me is holding out that its not the end.
Its very likely that they feel time has moved past them and that they don't have anything meaningful left to say as BoC. Look how they took their pictures off their website. These guys have stuck to their guns, they are true esoterics. Maybe they just can't operate in twitter space or whatever.
There's a couple of things on my mind:
- the black box hasn't changed for several months - this is odd and not in line with our previous black box
- the almost complete radio silence of MDG regarding the matter
- their website is rather defunct and more and more it's becoming a wasteland (see the removal of the pictures section for instance)
- Mira Calix made the statement there would not be a new album in 2010 (source) (Mira Calix is like the glue in the Warp family, she knows a lot of Warp artists, so I do think she has no interest in spreading false information- I guess she is in the know of things)
PS: But then again this July 2011 statement by MDG is still hopefull. I want to believe!

This was sent to me from MDG back in July when I asked him if there were any updates...Fredd-E wrote:I'm sorry but I think it's correlated with my personal situation the last months. There's a couple of things on my mind:I really wanted the new BoC to be announced this fall, but it hasn't (yet) and I'm quite sure it won't be anymore this year, if ever... even though I want it so bad like practically everyone else on this board and beyond. I hope I'm proven wrong anytime soon.

no one undoubtedly knows anything, but it's generally accepted that MDG isn't one of the brothers, i think.
sure it'd be an interesting charade to get to the listeners without them knowing you're one of the ones they adore, but i don't think they would have kept it up since 2006.

It crossed my mind multiple times as well MDG being one of the brothers... but then again I think it's really one of their personal friends. Someone from the hexagon sun collective helping out a hand on the internet. Then again we'll never know for certain. It all adds up to their mystery though!Waterbagel wrote:no one undoubtedly knows anything, but it's generally accepted that MDG isn't one of the brothers, i think.

I think regardless I'd consider him a "legitimate" source of BoC information.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.
