For us, it was never really about "daring to" do a 9/11 comic. We take the approach of "we either make fun of everything or nothing". The moment you start to make exceptions is the moment you lose integrity.

this one was really good. the rest of these maybe not so terrific. Iunno. almost seems like the jokes are ok but the timing is weird on them.

It would almost be better to have two human characters instead of just the synths/drum machines talking. One person a fan of Analogue and one a fan of Digital. Arguing with each other and giving each other shit. There would be more life in it. Just my opinion! Keep making them regardless! Peace.

I don't agree with you on the timing point... and to be honest that comic is probably my least favourite of the ones we've done. We may just have different preferences in regards to jokes.

We thought about that, but decided it would most likely get old really quickly... and besides, neither of us can draw human characters.

We had an idea about politics though... that there would be two parties in the comic's world (similar to the US system) a "Conservative" party which contained analogue synths, and a Liberal party, represent by digital synths... the problem with something like that is adding it in such a way that it makes sense in 4 panels, and that we both find it funny... who knows, maybe those elements will start to introduce themselves at some point in the future.

Different preferences yeah I can get behind that.
but that comic was awesome, partially because I didn't get it until I saw the title
When it hit me, it came off as really clever.

and Iunno, maybe it's just panel layouts, not timing. like when characters have multiple word bubbles, i'm inclined to read all of one characters' dialogue before moving on to the next (which generally ruins the joke). a closer/staggered approach might work better

Yeah, I get what you mean. I've had to get Adam to change speech bubble placement before, because they've been a little too confusing.

That's definitely something we'll work to improve.
