Why did they use "abeautifulplace" they should have used boardsofcanada...

Yeah.. now that I see that it's probably some guy at warp.

I received this message a couple months ago, but was hesitant to post it. (if you read it you'll understand) I asked them if this was really Boc or a fan made page and why I was on their top 8 out of thousands of people and this was the response I got;

Marc, and mike do not avidly check this page, but on some occassions Marcus does respond and check some of the textual bullet exchange. This page was arranged by warp records and a few others who constructed the official "boardsofcanada.com"

This site will be updated along with the official sites as well, as the same people are managing them. Boards of canada will sometimes resond to written letters or demo tapes, feel free to send them on it. Marcus HAS responded to just a few messages on here but it has turned to out to be too much trouble. People post them on forums and some kind of uprising begins about fakes and devil spawns...so you can understand. "

I bet about 0.1% of real, signed bands use their MySpace. It's only sad, amateur wankers who run their own pages. Uh, like me.

I want to write them a letter, but I really think I'll end up sounding like a fawning prick.

I used to be on their top 8 but got replaced by mum...so i dont feel so bad...i

I wouldn't say that's true. For a long time Billy Corgan wrote blogs on his myspace every week. Quite a few bands stay in touch with their fanbase through Myspace.

Meaha! good stuff. This boards of canada on myspace controversy has reached it's 4th page and I think it's safe to come to a conclusion here.

1. Sandison brothers don't dick around on myspace, they let their web designer/friend/warp records staff do it for them because they are far too busy being wicked cool.
2. The site is official in one way or another, a fan boy cannot possess the powers of warp records/ music 70 advertisement of dayvan cowboy without any solid and real connection.
3. Derail clearly got a message back clarifying that the brothers obviously don't really check it, and how it is run by someone else
4. So, let's not let this get to page 5 people. The dayvan cowboy advertisements are gone for good and we can stop grinding our teeth crooked now. Drink a beer, listen to sir prancelot brainfire and so on...
