Well, I like Mr Potato-head, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna drive a forklift-truck into a fucking mountain of spaghetti.
Shit, I would do that. Sounds like fun!

I was drunk and it was 5 in the morning when I wrote that. That's my pitiful excuse  my heart was in the right place.

Oh also, Skrillex... meh...

Well, let's not be rash. That actually sounds really cool. Are you sure you're not going to do that?

I would if I could, but I'm a little short on the cash for such a lucrative investment. I do have my forklift-truck license, so maybe in a distant future, when fame and fortune come my way. I could sell tickets.

why is everyone so angry :(

why can't we just get along, yeah music is awesome but it's nothing to fight over.

I love you all. :(

edit; people who like skrillex - you're taking the responses too seriously and you shouldn't have to reply to the people who are bagging him out for no good reason
people who don't like skrillex - you're taking the responses too seriously and you shouldn't have to reply to the people who are defending him for no good reason

I agree, and I don't think the posts defending him for good reason either should be responded to.

can this thread die yet? are you really pulling the fucking internet seniority card? stop. Not everybody digs skrillex, not everybody likes wubs in their dubstep, not everybody agrees with everything anyone else says but that is okay because THEY ARE JUST OPINIONS. Let them be opinions and we'll all be a little less pissy, dig?

I know! They haven't released an album in like... 6 years. And they haven't even bothered to tell me if they're still making music. Arseholes.

Yeah what I've seen, Skrillex and Aphex have something in common. Only use one Mac and maybe like one or two midi controllers to do their live performances. But that spans most live electronics one-man-acts nowadays..
Similarities stop there.

I don't dig really Skrillex nor Deadmau5.

Aphex is just fine! Mostly Drukqs and Selected Ambient. Mad lazers live.

Funny topic anyways...flame on.

He smashes his laptop up on stage repeatedly whilst the crowd goes wild at the end of his gigs, usually it's great that with modern technology pretty much any kind of data can be backed up multiple times with ease, but unfortunately on this occasion...I don't care what he listens to, I simply don't like his music.

Smokes wrote:I know most of you around here are not a fan of people like Skrillex. I know he is making the most mainstream electronic music right now, but id just like to share a little info that you may not know.

He is a hardcore Aphex Twin fan, and he has been for a long time. He has been seen in Aphex Twin shirts many times and in an interview he said that his favorite song of all time is Aphex Twin's "Flin". He also has mentioned being a fan of Warp Records in general and he listens to many artists like Autechre, and even Boards of Canada. He also was a huge fan of electro/house artists such as Justice and Daft Punk. In many of his early tracks the influence can be heard a lot more clearly.

I just keep seeing so many people hating on him when they don't know enough about him. Yeah his current productions are purely computer made bro dubstep electro tracks but thats just what he loves to make and his influences are many of the same artists all of you love.
now that i know this, my opinion on his music hasn't changed

you know, i dunno but Sonny seems like an okay guy. He's a small homely pimply kid who has just had several grammy nominations including best new artist. I don't really like his music and I happen to think the Grammy's are nonsense but the benefit I see is possibly more openness to other electronic artists. He has said as much about the nomination himself (Bon Iver is in the running as well and Sonny has said he expects that is the no brainer choice for best new artist) He doesn't strike me as stupid or arrogant.

I still don't really like his music and yeah it isn't really dubstep to me. It isn't his fault either that people don't know what we know about music. And that when you say I'm into electronic music they suddenly pop out with "like deadmau5 and Skrillex" I just throw up in my mouth a little and continue on hoping I have the chance to introduce them to better.

Other than that I couldn't be bothered about Skrillex. It made more sense to me to hate certain artists or music when I was young and we only had the radio. You really couldn't avoid certain songs because radio was the only way to hear new stuff. I'm so glad I can get onto something now like twoism, nueva Forma and iso50 and just hear a stream of stuff I'm probably going to really like.

Way too much great music being made at the moment to care about Skrillex. Means about as much to me as this week's X-Factor reject.

Smashing up a laptop is a really twattish thing to do no matter how you look at it. It's hardly going to make some wild exhilarating sound as it dies like a smashed up guitar is it? It'll just stop and presumably the PA will go silent. Maybe a deadening thud as the audio cuts out. Rock'n'roll, eh?

I've dropped a laptop before now, I was pretty upset. Still hurts to this day. ;)

could a mod put in a wordfilter so Skrillex becomes Skittles? that's what I keep reading everytime I see this thread.
