Insomnia
Hi guys... it may not exactly be insomnia, but there's a major change in my sleeping pattern going on where I'm going to sleep by sunrise despite settling down way in the middle of the night. It's coming to the point where I'm dreading night time... So, I'm scouring the net for solutions to help sleep and thought I'd throw out this question to here, see if anyone's had a similar thing happen and how they've managed to treat it. Thanks!
Ever tried pulling an allnighter and not letting yourself crash until an appropriate sleeping time comes? Might be something to see about trying. I did it a little bit ago and it seemed to help, just set an alarm at an appropriate time of waking up as well. Generally I set the alarm a bit under what would be a comfortably long sleep, so I'm still tired enough to sleep at the early-ish time the next day.

For a week or so, yeah. Just you wait. You'll get back into that groove inevitably.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

I have sleeping trouble too, and take a 'non-habit forming' sleeping pill maybe once a week. sometimes I drink a nuerosleep, but those are hit or miss for me. sometimes it will knock me out and other times won't do much of anything. I've heard melatonin does the trick for some people, and valarian root. also, sleeping in a cool bedroom really helps. good luck.

I had a lot of insomnia through high school. Especially during the summer. To remedy it, I'd force myself up very early and stay awake through the entirety of the day until I was so tired that I fell asleep at a regular time.
I had to switch sleeping patterns for my new job as well. Now, I have to be up very early and I make sure that I wake up around the same time every morning so that my sleep schedule isn't offset.
Eating something very small with a lot of grain in it like bread helps, exercise, water. It's all cliche, but it helps me, but my case has never been severe. It's a very difficult cycle to get out of. Good luck.

Exercise aids sleep massively, elevates mood and generally helps wellbeing. I highly recommend doing a little cycling, walking, swimming etc whatever just to help tire yourself out. Don't exercise close to bedtime though, adrenaline will keep you awake.

Yeah, that's the internal clock being retarded.
Even though I normally sleep 10 hours through the night, if I end up going to sleep at noon I'll wake up at about 7-8. Not sure exactly why it happens.

Melatonin has helped alot for me. I used to have 0,1 mg pills but went to the docter and he gave me 2 miligram pills, those work like a charm, at least for me. Not staying awake in my bed for 3 hours, and waking up shitloads of times while sleeping. If I take a 2 miligram melatonin pill, and after an hour I go to bed, I fall asleep within half an hour, and wake up whenever my alarm goes. (usually about 7 hours later).

Yeah, be real careful with that. Stop every 15 minutes and run round the car a couple of times if you have to, its better to confuse some strangers than explain a head-on.
I'm in an insomnia patch right now. Talk about cause and effect, I have Crohns disease, and the bit of my small intestine that it's destroyed is where vitamin B's supposed to be absorbed. So I can't get vitamin B from food, and have to get it injected every three months... at the end of that period I get killer insomnia, just find myself staying up till 3AM cos I cant sleep then can't wake up till midday, and Im no use to anyone all day. Always my wife that works it out "when did you last have your vitamin B jab" "ohhh...."

Oh man, i guess allot of twoismers deal with the same problems.
I've always been a night person. I am way more creative/productive at night when I can't sleep. Maybe its the reason I can't sleep. To many ideas, to many things I would rather do.
But then when I have to wake up, I want nothing more then to sleep. I can never wake up on time.
I think I have a combination of insomnia and hypersomnia. Life is hard.
