Even though I think the pay-whatever-you-like method is the best idea since the record store, I still say go for it. Just...don't quit your dayjob just yet. I think your music is worth all the gold in the world, the music industry is in a horrible state.

I've nothing to lose; I'm unemployed.

The only money I make is from music and drawing Disney characters for furries.

So... I'm -pretty- certain at this point that I'm retiring the stand-alone website at borealnetwork.net.

While it's still acceptable for independent musicians to operate their own websites, I basically have let this site languish as my interest in web design (and my SKILLS in web design) have atrophied to the point where I can barely update it. It's clunky, it's a big digital artpiece and I feel it's unnecessary to serve the purpose of my music.

Instead, I want to re-release my old stuff on Bandcamp.

The thing, though, is that I want to release them for money.

This is different. They were free before.

I'm a little worried about how people might react to that - although I, personally, think it's a totally legit move and there's nothing wrong with it.

Naturally I'm not going to be asking for $20 or something, but maybe $5-or-whatever-else-you-feel-it's-worth.

What do people think of this? I feel like this would be way better than trying to maintain, pay for, and update a website I rarely use. The domain name borealnetwork.net would redirect to my Bandcamp.
Go for it dude, maybe put up FLAC's previously unavailable or add new bonus tracks and/or remixes as extra incentive 8)

'Phase With the Moon' never grows old. One of my favorite CD's to throw on for long drives up to Northern Ontario. Fits in perfect alongside my BoC and Tycho.

i'd really like to hear bikehigh USA in hi-fidelity. not that the 24kbps sound isnt awesome, but just out of curiousity. will gladly pay for that. is it possible?

Interesting thought... I'm working on revisiting the original project files and seeing what I can do to render them in WAV.

Back when I wrote my older stuff, I had NO idea of sound quality - I laughed at the thought of it, in fact - so most of my original projects are very low-quality sounding before I even render them out.

Okay...

Here's an example of what I mean.

A lot of the textures and sounds that made these songs what they were came from the intention damaging and downsampling I did AFTER rendering them.

Here's what one of them sounds like WITHOUT that damaging: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/20453369/Barges ... Pylons.mp3

Do you guys still think that sounds cool? If so, I'm more than happy to put up WAV/FLAC versions of Bikehigh USA, and everything else I've done. But it might sound a little different.

That's cool man. Thanks, I'm going to buy it as BHUSA as soon as my PayPal isn't overdrafted.

You should let us know when you get Aviation Weather up. Having that in FLAC would be great.

Also, maybe it's just me, but there's an issue when trying to purchase Bikehigh. The little thing doesn't pop up to let me buy the whole thing when I press it and it does for Harney Peak. I could just download each track individually though, but that'd take more time processing a payment for each separate one.

Huh, that's weird. Buying the whole album is working for me. Anyone else having that issue?

Should buy that "The View From Harney Peak" -release. Missing few bucks because I spent my last dough on Geogaddi LP! Will buy it later though. Even my stepdad digs your stuff! And my fellas digged your stuff too when I played your stuff on our local FM-radioshow.
