I am perpetually amazed by this Universe, top to bottom, and have had a number of bike accidents looking at trees.

Phobos-Grunt, the Russian/Chinese probe that was to visit Phobos (one of Mars' two Moons) is stuck in earth orbit after rocket separation and spacecraft enterding safe-mode.

The situation might yet be salvageable, I really hope so, I have been looking forward to this mission for years.

Has anyone seen this footage before? Im still not sure if its really real but its pretty intriguing if it is.

Yeah that's a few years old, not really a mystery as it's been reproduced lots of times in physics fluid labs, still it was unexpected at the time and a pretty neat sight.

Yeah, I went and missed it. Gutted.

The irony was, we had crystal clear skies at home, but we decided to drive up to a local 'Dark Sky' site for the first time......where there was so much high-level cloud you couldn't see a thing except a spectacular lunar halo. Didn't hear about the meteor until I got home.

By all accounts it was visible for 20 seconds, which is pretty incredible.

Ah too bad man, that rubbish luck. The perils of astronomy. I've seen one spectacular meteor when I was camping with some friends 5 years ago I think, it was near dawn and was really low down in terms of altitude and incredibly bright, was in the sky for about 10/15 seconds, no exaggeration, it must of been really spontaneous because I searched on the net for people anticipating it but found nothing. Im glad I experienced that one with some mates, otherwise no one would of believed me

Other than that and a few good meteors showers, I haven't seen anything too brilliant comet/meteor wise. I am hoping I can hold out for Halleys return in 60 odd years

Ahaaaa!! so it was a meteor. I saw this thing last night, I was drinking beer and smoking with a friend in his back garden and we saw this orange fireball thingy. At first we thought it was a chinese lantern but then we noticed it was going way too fast and we saw like a vapuor trail. It looked like bits were breaking off it.

Ive seen distant meteor showers but to see one like this, an orange fireball so relatively close was pretty awesome.
