I feel like I need to start listening to the shows this guy puts on. This is awesome news and I literally just died at the mention of double music. Wowowowowowowowowow...I hope it's true.
DOUBLE MUSIC?!

I lol'd heartily at this.

My Google alert page is starting to fill with 'Ohh Serafinowicz said this' as various music sites pick up on it.

I'm not convinced by it. This is all appears to be hearsay based on rumours we've already heard.

But he deliberately avoided your question about the new album rumour. Nuff said imho.

If it turns out to be inaccurate: he did co-create the excellent Look Around You, I think that's a good enough reason alone to let it slide!

He played Happy Cycling today (Sat 3rd March), the actual Peel Session, as opposed to the CD version. He related the story of how he listened to it on a cassette on a rooftop in Soho, London in 1998 and this was the track that got him into BoC.

Was Peel Session ever even released on cassette? Had to've just been copied if anything...

I've begun listening to this show every Saturday since I learned about it. That part of the show about the onions was hilarious. Being afraid of onions.

No, he just taped it off the radio.

Is this broadcast of the original the best quality version we have of it now though?

Coincidentally, Happy Cycling was the track that got me into BoC, heard it first in a compilation Nick Warren did for Global Underground (#18 iirc, "Reykjavik").

Little known fact: the live broadcast version of this track was actually called 'Bad Day' and is different from the version of Happy Cycling found on the Peel Session CD, which is actually just the regular version from MHTRTC.

I managed to find a cassette tape recording of the actual radio broadcast, complete with John's introduction before Aquarius and XYZ. I will send the link to anyone if you're interested.

Info on official John Peel Sessions page

And BOC pages

Also, if I remember correctly, Happy Cycling turned up on the Peel Session first, then added to MHTRTC after, when it was reissued. My old CD is pre-Happy Cycling.
