I lost internet for a few days and forgot about this thread, no my connection is restored and I returned to find absolutely nothing of note has happend, standard Boards of Canada fan procedure has been resumed

Unless you travel internationally or have friends that you talk to on a regular basis, I highly recommend disconnecting. I did it almost 2 years ago for about 3 months. I can't remember the last time that I was happier!

as i enjoy a sip of scotch and a nice frozen glass of india pale ale. i see that i am one of the few members of this forum who are completely patient in the wait for the new album.

while you guys are jumping out of your skin in wait for new boards of canada material. enjoy the beats of some Afta 1, in the meantime.

There is just so so so so much good music coming out now for me to be impatient about one specific band.

It was quite intriguing to see the effects of no internet.

I went to bed earlier and I read more, both positives. However, I don't have a radio where I am at the moment so I couldn't keep track of current events, which I really dislike. I have to keep up on the news.

If I wasn't at Uni where its essential to have internet connection for keeping track of engagements and such I would definitely consider cutting off the net for a while. It's quite sad to know I am so dependant on the internet but it's power to make my studies easier is undeniable.

Exactly, I'd have thought it was obvious!

Anything of quality needs time to develop until it is exactly how it should be. I know it's a cliche but it's like good wine; nobody gains anything from it being rushed out before it has reached its peak, whereas you can allow for the process to take its time and ultimately reap the rewards.

Doubtless the brothers still perfectionists - so bearing this in mind, we should take a longer wait as a mark of high standards, due care and consideration; it's a sign of quality.

Amen. Apart from dinner i've been sat in front of my computer since getting back from work, where I was sat in front of the computer all day. I have been studying all evening but it can't be good for you whatever you're doing. Exercise is the one thing that pulls me away...

I say this a lot sometimes. I hate when people completely reject the idea based on what they hear on the radio, or just complain that nothing sounds like prog rock anymore (unless it does sound like prog rock, in which case they say it's unoriginal).

Well the older generation seems to be having some problems evolving and finding those right channels for the "good" new music, which they could be able to appreciate. Some of the older fellas I know have a very selective taste in music and they are really stubborn on trying something new. Well I can say it seems to be a thing among many of us. You just have to be open and discover something new without really thinking that "This is not what I used to listen/This is what I like". I've tried broadening my musical taste with more objective view and I think it has helped me to discover some amazing stuff I would have not digged few years ago.
