mp3 compressing?

hey guys how can i compress a 9.7 meg song under 6 megs so i can upload it to myspace????

Well, if you have the original .wav form I'd reccomend doing it with an mp3 encoder and shooting for like.. 128 kbps depending on song length.

I suppose it's possible to compress an already compressed file.. but I've never tried, and it would sound like crap.

I guess you could burn the mp3 onto a CD or something and then rip it and then recompress it with an encoder like CDex.

This is just as bad. Just another mp3 mp3'd.

CDex is what I use to do things, experiment with various bitrates, maybe even try variable bit rate (vbr) if the song is somewhat mellow.

A lot depends on the length of the track etc etc.

but its already an mp3, i used itunes to convert it.

So convert the original again into 128kbps. Surely you still have the wav form of an original composition.
