I was a massive Floyd fan when I was in my late teens, early twenties. But to me DSOTM is spoiled by 2 tracks, one big clanger was On the Run and the other A Great Gig in the Sky. Always hated them and skipped them.

Maybe I ought to go back and have another listen? For a re-evaluation.

On the run can be a skipper for me 2, its still perfect in its own right.

Great gig in the sky on the other hand...how can you not like that?
Try singing along and you'll notice the power of that track. Or you lie down on the floor full on psychedelics...

Wow, I'm really surprised a lot of people feel this way. I mean, not only is On The Run SERIOUSLY ahead of its time in terms of technical sound, it adds an electronic tinge that barely any albums at the time had. The usage of tape loops in the track function so similarly to a drum machine that it's very worth noting the profoundness of the track as a predecessor to a lot of psychedelic electronic music.


Or, you know, that's my opinion on it at least. I feel like if I were going to sit and listen to the whole album straight through, I wouldn't skip any tracks.
