Loess

So I know that there are some fans on here, as there is a thread about a previous album.

Well here is a thread now to discuss it..

I recently purchased all three of their albums released on nonresponse (Finally!), I am yet to get a copy of their 12"s, but I don't think this will be far away. I had purchased an electronic copy of Burrows several months after it was released, very late to the game, but I think even these months let alone years were a musical mistake, it took a while for it to catch on, the brilliance that is... Perhaps even a few years of listening every now and again, I missed it for large amounts of time, though I came back and I didn't even realise how entwined I was becoming. There is something that these woven rayleigh wave-like scapes, rolling pads falling in and out of crescendo.. I would liken it a lot Arovane in some way.. Also to BOC of course, but slightly different.

Anyway you should listen to all of their albums and make your own mind up.

For a sample of their music I have supplied a youtube video.

Though I also recommend listening to a song off their selftitled album..

Loess - Littoral

Also we should have a youtube button..

Excellent recommendation.

From the album Wind and Water I think Brumal and Greensland are really nice and a bit boccy too.

I would actually go as far as saying Loess is the best band I've ever heard in my life. Their music is more then just music to me and I feel that it describes my whole being, if that makes sense..

Selkuth is also one of my favourites, thank you for uploading it!
The album Burrows and especially the tracks Spetaelska, Lull and Hohn is amazing. I just hope they are still working and that we will get a new album some day.

The strangest thing just happen to me. I got a package containing an Lp from the guys from Loess today. On the Lp they have written "Sigrid, Thanks for listening! Clay, Ian"
I'm very confused why they would sent it to me but I can't think of anyone else that would do this like some kind of joke? If it truly are from them I think I might be the happiest girl on the planet right now.

Has this happen to any one else here?

Did you get the LP just out of the blue? If so, then they might have seen your comment and sent it to the contact address you have up on your site?

To me Loess is like Bola's sister. I guess it is in the name in combination with the same sort of IDM they both produce. (Proem also fits well with that)

Yep just out of the blue :). I'm not sure they find me through here because the address on my site is my old address (I haven't got around to change it there yet). But still, I'm the only one in the wold having this name so i guess I'm not that hard to find.
But my guess would be that they have sent Lp's to people liking there Facebook-page, thats why I asked if someone else got one.

Anyway, It's a very nice gesture and I'm just moved that they care so much about their fans.

Which LP did they send you? You had me scouring for news of a new release but I don't see anything. I 'liked' their Facebook page a while back so I doubt that's why you received it.

Damn you, twoism; you are officially overloading my computer with too many opportunities to get great music.

Although I suppose there are worse problems then having too much new, amazing music to listen to. :D

Syberia, that is quite awesome! Unfortunately no vinyl for me, but that's ok because it would be my pleasure to pay for it :D Also good to see some new listeners here as well. Please go and buy some of their CD's. I can say that there is a small list of artists that have influenced my taste in music so, and these guys are on it. The others go something like:

BOC;
Lusine;
Christ.;
M83;
Chopin; and
Keith Jarrett.

You know I have thought long and hard about this, and I can't for the life of me figure it out.. Could you please expand upon this for me. To me it sounds nothing like Soup that's for sure. Could you provide examples please.

Sigrid, did you solve the mystery of the LP?
