Tool is up there with boards, two bands I really respect and appreciate to have their music in my life. Also two very reclusive and mysterious ones lol. But yeah I agree, and I'm sorta getting to the point where the drugs are bringing me to the same kinds of places I was about two years ago. That's nice every once and a while just to be back there, but there's only so much that chemically altered states can offer. I think after this summer I'm gonna sign off from being a psychonaut

Agreed, I'm thinking tomorrow will be one of my last trips, if not the last one.

I've still not tried DMT, although I know I can get some if I wanted to. I think I'm slowly beginning to reach a point of self-knowledge, mostly involving the understanding that my ego is now separate from the egos of other people, an essential part in personal evolution and adulthood (when you're a child your ego is dependent on the ego of others, especially one's parents). I was waiting to do further psychedelics until my ego was more fully formed and "hardened" if you will, so as not to disturb its growth. Because having a strong and functioning ego is an essential part of being a human being, as long as you don't identify with that ego and maintain mindfulness of your deeper self. So I think I will be ready to try DMT soon, although I feel as though the longer I wait, the better my experience will be. After all, Olli, if you did it in your early-to-mid thirties and had such a beneficial experience, I still have time being probably ten years your junior. I just don't want to rush anything, as someone said above. You can't hasten enlightenment. You can't try too hard to immanentize the eschaton.

As for shrooms, I don't think I'll ever do them again, they have usually given me horrible trips. Acid has always been much more enjoyable for me.

All of their stuff makes the most fantastic trip music.

BoC and psychedelics go hand in hand in my experience, beautiful music to trip too. Have listened to Dayvan Cowboy on DMT and it was absolutely perfect!

It was funny- recently I did some very good acid with a few friends, two of which were new to it and I underestimated how strong this stuff was gonna be. Basically when it started it was the usual chaos of normal reality being peeled away which I'm fairly used to by now but my buddy was fighting it and starting to freak out big time.

For a while things were weird and I just tried to keep the energy good and calm him down and at one point started to play boards of canada (music has the right). I didn't really expect this but almost instantly everyone became so happy and energetic and my friend who was kinda distressed completely forgot about it and was just having a good time.

That is proof that boc and tripping go hand in hand. Even their more creepy stuff was entrancing and just beautiful.

Yeah exactly. It's always a bit of a struggle for me on the come up (it's more just uncomfortable) but once I'm peaking and fully into it it's smooth sailing.

But god damn this acid was good. I remember when we all dropped it it had that super metallic tingling sensation on my tongue which is generally a sign its very good lol.

Unfortunately lsd is really taxing on the mind and body for me and frankly I just don't have the energy for it most of the time.

I find this entire post very intriguing. I don't have any experience with psychedelics yet, but I hope to have BoC be a part of it if/when I do. Their music seems to be at the peak of every strong, meaningful memory I have (at least for the last five or six years), I feel it would only be right to experience it in a whole new perception.

I heard that metallic taste isn't a good sign, it might contain some other chemicals as well. I only did it once and it tasted like paper.

I might be wrong though...

DMT is something I would definitely like to experience but I think it'd be pretty ambitious/stupid of me to jump in at the deep end without having done any other psychadelics

You're talking about a bitter taste, not a metallic taste. If it's bitter, it's a spitter (meaning its probably an RC and should be avoided). I've been cursed with those before and they're fucking AWFUL.

There are also online resources---and with a little bit of research you can find anything. Of course you'd need a browser like Tor to find such reliable places, which shall remain nameless for safety's sake.

Speaking of which, SWIM is acquiring some DMT from one of these online places and is excited to see how it turns out.

you still can't trust everyone with something like that at the same time. But yes I'm fairly certain it isn't too complicated.

I recently ate only 1.3 or so grams of mushrooms with six other friends and went off into a huge conservation land which contains probably one of the only desert like areas around where I'm from.

It was a really powerful experience and at one point I spent almost an hour laying down in the desert and listening to bibio and boc's campfire headphase- I couldn't have asked for better music at the time. It was a really beautiful experience.

A close friend of mine recently tried DMT. Apparently he was listening to the track "Somewhere in Russia" by Carbon Based Lifeforms. He couldn't explain the experience except to send me the following:

I do remember he said it was like "returning to a place of eternal beauty that's been there your entire life and you've forgotten about--like returning home after a lifelong journey"

I am so glad I took the time to read the post. I am sold now. Taking DMT has become a mission for me.
