I was actually thinking today.. I should resurrect the Autechre thread(s) and get some input on where to go with Autechre next..

I have Tri-Repetae and Incunabula and Amber....

What's next?

I always have appreciated autechre too guys.
My favourite has to be 'confield'. Its an abstract fractal opus. I'm sure i read Richard D James claims that record to be in his top ten of all time.

Can any of u name that sad, beautifull track. no beat its on an e.p..last track. the most hearbreaking droned notes i have ever heard. sounds like an ocean crying..sniff!

Anyways fuck this unhappy shit, i just rolled a five skinned joint. Viva la Cunted.

You have to be talking about Vietrmx21. It's one of the only tracks that's ever brought me to tears.

Vietrmx21 from the "Garbage" ep [1995] gives me goosebumps. Don't forget "Bronchusevenmx24" a very emotionally track.

The first song that got me into Autechre was Eutow. That track still takes me places other than where I am when I listen to it. But it took me a while to get over how there is no other song like that in their repertoire. Slowly though I grew to love them. It wasn't until I heard Bine that I gave them a second chance.
Untilted for being almost all mainly beats is a very visual record. I can hear weather patterns like rain falling and lighting storms within their music. Am I crazy in hearing that?

Before Autechre released 'Chiastic Slide', their was ' Envane ' 2x12"/CD, jan.27th 1997. Listen to 'Goz Quarter' and 'Draun Quarter'. Memorable tracks.

outside of phonem, arovane and boc, these guys are the only other band that i hunted everything i could possibly find by them..which totals to 43 discs and a minidisc

You should check out 'Bola' and 'Ochre', both very good.

I just recently got into Autechre really heavily. I really dig all of Incunabula of course. On top of that, Vietmx21 is fucking amazing ambient music. I've alwyas had a soft spot in my heart for Piezo as I heard it during an interesting point in my life. I really love Fold4 Wrap5 because of the way that beat appears to be slowing down yet staying perfectly in time! Totally awesome!

Some describe Autechre's music as cold and austere, whereas others perceive a warmth and sentimentality that touches even the most cerebral pieces. Much of Autechre's music has a strong focus on complex rhythm and driving percussion, and more recently, on meticulous sequencing. Later work has been notably experimental and abstract, in contrast to the more club-friendly and conventional early 1990s releases. Due to the inaccessibility of their sound, reactions to their music have varied. Many of their tracks contain complex or chaotic rhythmic figures and close harmonies which some have criticized as random and noisy. Fans of their recent work tend to find the value of their music to lie in its unique fusion of rhythmic and melodic elements, percussive noises being tweaked to sound like they have pitches, and clustered, often inharmonic synthesizer patches implying numerous melodic lines and chord structures simultaneously. A signature of the Autechre sound is the use of extremely short snippets of sound to create a buzzing, percolating, grainy effect. Autechre is still my favourite electronic band. Let's see if BoC can keep up.

Audio Pollock sounds better than IDM.

I like IDM, except for the 'D'. I have to agree with Mike and Marcus, I don't think they've ever made a dance record.

But 'Intelligent Music' would sound kind of pretentious. Especially considering classical and baroque and all that stuff.

You can dance in a horizontal way.
