New TapeSounds Album- Yugen

Post by TaoTapeTao »

Finally after four months I'm done with a double album sorta worth of material, the lp's called Yugen.

I really hope people check this out, I'd appreciate it.

Also here's a link to one of the songs from it so you guys can get a feel for it because it's so long

It'll take me a while to listen to all of it, but from the first 6 or 7 tracks there's some decent bits in this. Every now and then something clicks. That doesn't mean the rest doesn't but the style means the wanderings are welcome and then sometimes it just hits it.

I see what you mean, yeah a lot of it is broken up into either more actual structured songs and then ambient and more textural stuff and occasionally found sound stuff. Thanks though I appreciate it.

But yeah I definitely recommend checking out the whole thing even though it's fairly long.

Hoooooooooooooooooooly shit. This is REALLY nice! It doesn't really fit into one genre/style, but I like that. Very eclectic and well-done. Good work!

Thanks, I really appreciate it. Yeah it's hard for me to stick to one genre just because there's so many styles I love lol so yeah it's pretty mixed.

I'm glad I mastered this whole thing to tape though, it actually improved the sound I think.

Hi! I enjoyed this a lot, an interesting variety of styles happening and I like the home recording vibe, made me think of Beck's "Stereopathetic Soul Manure" in its playfulness, not necessarily musically.
Some tracks immediately stand out more than others but from what I've been able to take in so far, it flows pretty well, thanks for sharing!

Thanks, I appreciate the comments! And I definitely need to check out that Beck thing, I've been meaning to get into more of his stuff.

Great stuff Tao, really niice works with your sounds. I love this kind of organic music, the tape sound, the live instruments and the athmosphere.

Which software do you use to mix and record ?

Thanks man. Yeah I always try to introduce a little bit of cassette recordings or some kind of lo fi touch because it seems to give stuff a lot of warmth.

Umm for the most part I use logic for tracking I use to use a tascam four track to record but now I mostly use it's mics for recording lol and I mix it all in logic and then mastered it down to cassette in the end.

mmmmm bump. I've finally hit 1,000 hits on bandcamp! This is awesome to me and frankly I don't give a fuck whether that's a lot or not-- to me it is lol. Errybody give some of my stuff a listen maybe? I know this is obnoxious but yes.

And I'll be working on a new heavily BoC inspired project soon, time is tight right now.

Congratulations!

I've downloaded most of your stuff in FLAC from Bandcamp, and am thoroughly enjoying it. Your work is quite unique, like nothing I've heard before.

Looking forward to hearing more from you - the "new heavily BoC inspired project" sounds interesting. :)

Thanks- I really appreciate it! I'm glad you say it's unique, in my book unique is always a good thing lol.

I've honestly tried to describe or think of a genre for my stuff and it sorta perplexes me- perhaps it's because I can never settle on a specific genre lol.

Yeah I'm excited for more music though it'll be a little while before I can get anything finalized. But incase you're interested here's a sample of the BoC sounding stuff to come: http://soundcloud.com/maketapesounds/breathe

Dear God, why does twoism have to have so many brilliant people?

This was genuinely one of the best things I've heard over the past month.

It's not even exactly like BoC - it's the tape-hiss nostalgia thing, but with a TaoTapeTao-type spin.

I cannot wait for this to come out. Wow! Wow! Wow! :D

(I'm in a good mood today, apparently :))

Haha wow thanks, I really appreciate it. I'm surprised/glad you think this is that good. So far it's only a rough version and I've got plenty of work to do but yeah I'm really excited to put this out.
