SWRL001 - 12" / digital release

Hi Twoism - I've lurked this site for years but finally feel like I have something to contribute.

This year I released a record under the moniker Swirl, both as a 12" for friends & digitally on the Scottish netlabel Section27. BoC records definitely have had a big influence on my approach, so I figured it would be worth mentioning the release on the Twoism board. Lossless copies are available for free on my bandcamp page here.

If you enjoy the tunes, I'm happy to send 12" copies out - just email or PM me. I've also released a video for one track from the album, which is available here.

I posted something about your 12" a couple months ago (right before you sent me the vinyl). Didn't get enough responses though! Everyone needs to check out Michael's work. It's simply amazing!

Really like the sound of this! Love that hazy sound. Could I just ask also, how did you go about getting just 100 copies pressed of the vinyl? I've always wanted to do some vinyl pressings for my label but haven't been able to find anywhere that will press unless the order is 250 copies or more! Cheers

Sounds great Michael! I just listened to a few tracks, I will have to download the who album when I get home. Also, I love the artwork, did you make it? Looks like a painting. Very cool. Thanks for sharing!

this is really good and I love the textures- reminiscent of BoC in a way but also really original. Definitely downloading this.

Hi BrandNewRetro,

Thanks for the kind words about my release. If you want a 12" copy, I would be more than happy to send one your way; just let me know via reflect_what@live.com. Also, I'm digging the tunes on your label!

To answer your question, in order to press 100 vinyl copies, I employed the services of two separate organizations. For lacquer mastering services, I worked with Lucky Lacquers in Middleton, Wisconsin, USA. I live in Chicago & couldn't have asked for a better experience. Scott, the owner, also sent my lacquer masters to the pressing plant [URP] for me, which saved me a hassle.

For vinyl pressing services, I employed United Record Pressing [URP], based out of Nashville, Tennessee, USA. I originally wanted only 50 copies pressed, but apparently 100 is their minimum, so I obliged. They can provide many or few services, depending on your needs, but I also highly recommend their services.

polarsky, thanks so much for listening!! my intention is similar to BoC in that the more you listen, the more i hope that you'll hear - so I encourage you to download the album, or order a 12" copy! (There is no price & I'm happy to send one your way.)

I did make the artwork. I'm glad glad that you found the album artwork visually interesting. I would love to discuss the meaning (or lackthereof) in this piece, but only for those interested. PM or email me! cheers!

I know I'm bumping this thread but I wanted to give the music some time to sit for a while and yep, it's still great. I've just come back from driving all over Switzerland for shits and giggles and this would've made a perfect accompaniment.
