I know I am turning into the creepy bearhead/tape sounds fanboi, but nonetheless: I agree. This is brilliant.

Thanks I appreciate that guys. That song was put through several different crappy cassette recorders and I'm so happy with how the result came out.

And that's perfectly fine pianoforte hahaha, I'm just glad that other people can appreciate this stuff like I said.

Good, so I don't have to go into anti-bearhead/tape-sounds therapy? :D haha

Hahah, pianoforte. It's quite alright. I think it's cool that you guys like what we did on the split. It was really fun to put together.

Here's a hastily hacked-together music video for "Sea Salt" by Tape Sounds: link

TaoTapeTao, if you want the original mpg file, I can easily upload it for you.

If you want me to take the video down, I will.

Either way, enjoy! :)

I enjoyed the aesthetic of this release, but I just can't get into the songs. I like a few, mostly bearhead.

It seems their love for warped Tape is almost overwhelming at times, I wish it were slightly more subtle. But that's only a personal preference.

This is great! I love this. If you ever want to do more videos to any other material feel free. I feel like this video (especially the shots of the waves and glaciers) match the song and the sound very well.

I do agree in some sense and I respect your opinion. There is some tape manipulation on here though there are some tracks where they were simply mastered to tape and nothing more. If the tape manipulation poses a problem I suggest you check out my older stuff on bandcamp- it's less involved with tape manipulation, largely because I didn't know how to earlier on lol. Though I did start out with strictly microcassette recordings, hence the name...

I can agree with Kamas009, but not just with your tracks. Most of my tracks were pretty "tape-y" as well. Not that I'm against noisy lo-fi tape, because I'm not. But that just happened to be the theme of the release. Not really set in stone or anything, it just sort of happened that way. But at the time, I was using either the Sony stereo's cassette recorder, or my Tascam. Now that I have a new recorder and new tapes, things should sound different in the future.

Oh, good. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

I do intend to make more videos to these tracks, especially once I get the iMac I have been saving up for. :)

Where'd that footage come from? It was really interesting.

I've downloaded this release in FLAC and, while I haven't listened to it in its entirety yet, have thoroughly enjoyed what little I have heard.

You both have unique yet highly intelligent and satisfying selections on this release (not to mention the fact that you're both really nice people! haha). This is muuuuuuusic liiiiiike iiii've neeeeeever heaaaaard......... :D

I heartily recommend the bearhead/tape sounds split to anyone who may read this.
