I have a friend who once kicked another friend out of his car in the middle of winter for saying Mumford & Sons was a shitty pop band.

Poor guy had a long walk that night.

To be fair, the guy he kicked out was always an asshole. This was a couple years ago when we were in high school too, we were all a little screwy. Haven't spoken to him since though, haha.

U2 (*vomits and wants to punch things and bonos face all at the same time*) They are not even a band, they a ltd company / organization. The kings of un-cool.. Bloody tossers.

EDIT: Arrghhh who in the hell calls them self "The edge" FFS he can only play three power chords. I can only assume it means the edge of shit or maybe the edge of the cliff people keep trying to throw him off.

Boards of Canada

Seriously though, Fall of Troy, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Flying Lotus, Sublime (ugh x1000), Crystal Castles (ugh x100000000) any wub-wub shit.

I also have this issue with some songs by artists in particular although not necessarily the rest of the artist's music, one of them is the Johnny Cash cover of Hurt.

What everyone else seems to hear: awesome music that they can get into

What I hear: sidechain up the ass, obscuring the music entirely

You're not alone. I've really tried with Flying Lotus and I can sort of admire it from a technical standpoint... But I just don't hear any tunes in there.

Also would like to throw out an album that fits this topic perfectly: Kid A by Radiohead.

I do not understand its popularity. In my opinion, half of it sounds like a shoddy imitation of IDM music (which I feel they accomplished much more appropriately on Amnesiac, see "Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors") and half of it sounds like OK Computer b-sides with a few more synths thrown in.

That being said, The National Anthem is a very good track and Motion Picture Soundtrack is decent.

Respect your opinion, but these are both incredible bands for me.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with them, but I just can't get into them despite how many times my friends have recommended me to.

I'm open to everyone's musical opinions, but as a writer, and a writer who uses a healthy amount of profanity in his work at that, this article makes my brain sad.

Also, I'd like to add Michael Jackson and everything he's involved with to the list of artists I don't get.

EDIT:

Thought of another one: Justice.

Ooh, the BILE I've inspired!

IanRedpoint - totally with you on AC/DC - I just hear dull pub-rock. But, look they've got a grown man dressed as a school-boy! Those guys....

Red Hot Chili Peppers? I don't mind them until Antony Kiedis opens his mouth and starts yapping about California. Once saw them live with James Brown as the support act - note to every band ever: when choosing a support act, DON'T choose one of the most charismatic performers ever with a huge catalogue of the funkiest music ever written and a drilled-to-perfection live band; you WILL be blown off stage. Hard.

Meatloaf
Rizzle kicks (Do the Hump song with that obese wanker James Corden in the video, urgh, such a bane)
The Killers
DJ Fresh
Blink 182

As for actual people, i'm sure some of us here have heard of Nick Grimshaw, right? Can't stand that bloke one bit, too pretentious, ohhh look at me with my moppy hair and skinny jeans, posing with my legs slightly closed as if you were sitting on the bog taking a dump.
