The "look how crappy the music I make is" thread

Post by Cupz »

For those songs you've finished that don't deserve their own threads and to just promote yourself to shit.

I'll start:

I'm very proud of this song as its like a new take on the tired dubstep genre. The chiptunish melody also seems to fit like a glove and I still can't believe I pulled a melody like that off. Its on a mix I made featuring all the garbage I made and didn't finish but looking back, this track was pretty finished and pretty damn good.

Flamingo Pudding is really catching on as a live show as well. I've played 8 gigs last year. Thats quite allot for my doing. I get loads of complements after playing, people come especially for me and I even have some regular visitors that help out with the show even though they don't know it. Its like a playhouse.

no, that's the post what you're working on, not what you finished. People just started using it as a promotional thread.

I agree , kinda. A designated area for members' creations would be awesome , rather than a dusty wee corner somewhere.
It wouldnt be a big job to make a subsection , where it wont interfere with anything else. There'd be less of an inclination to mix self promotion into the rest of the board.
I just wish it was "thread-per-track" format here , rather than "one thread for all" cos you miss a hundred tracks with this method.

But then , what would i know............

Maybe one thread an artist/project is the best format? Thread per track is going to get messy really fast. There are next to no reactions to entire albums sometimes, let alone tracks.

Speaking as a fan, I wouldn't mind an extra forum purely where artist-specific threads existed for us to post our own stuff. I think that might not be everyone's cup of tea, though, and it's not my forum really so just giving my point of view. But I always like to keep up on certain musicians here and that would help to do that...

Cupz - The last thing I listened to of yours was Over the Base which is reaaally well done, I'll need to have a good listen to all your stuff when I'm not so busy. Keep it up though man, glad to hear your live stuff is being received well.

Yeah that would work.
That way , everything would be ordered , tidy , and be an obvious area for others to peruse , rather than hunt around to find one thread where everyones stuff is crammed in like sardines.
Id spend a lot of time in that section , giving constuctive feedback , if such an area were to exist.

Well, I've pleaded for a twoism artist section below the playground, but people didn't like that idea I believe.

For me , Its the only thing thats missing.
Self-promotional "lapses" would be less inclined to happen when other new members join , unaware of the local designations , and possibly prompting the cycle to begin all over again. The crux of the issue is clarity , and for the sake of clarity , somewhere more defined would definitely be a good idea.

All my albums are free to download on bandcamp: http://samplescience.bandcamp.com/

My experience with bandcamp isn't very good, almost nobody listen or download my music there, compared to Soundcloud were people listen to my tracks almost daily (more than 8 000 listens so far).

I get what you're saying. I think it's that Soundcloud has the sort of social networking aspect to it, that tends to guarantee more listeners for a lot of people, even though Bandcamp is (in my opinion) better for distributing albums and EPs.

I'm going to spam my signature while I'm here, too. Look down, yo.

Some good stuff. Haven't gotten through all of it, but I especially like Arp 2wo and Hand Shaking so far.
