I wasnt a fan of the bitcrushed sound but i really enjoyed the dubby bassline , and the 2 chord pattern.
Thought the lead was pretty inventive considering its a sample of a boc lead ( :? ) , and the piano at the very end was a nice touch. Lots to like but the bitcrushed beat is too in your face and overpowers the melody which should have more room to shine , rather than play second fiddle to the beat. Its rare that someone will ever remember a track because of itsbeat , so let the melody speak clearly. Thats the thing that will bring someone back for a 2nd , 3rd , 4th listen.
It's funny, Kinesthetiac (who wrote the melody) told me that the beat was actually too quiet, and that it should come in much louder.

The melody is the loudest thing in the track, by a really significant amount. How is the beat "overpowering" it? And there's no BoC lead samples anywhere in that track.

Also, "it's rare that someone will ever remember a track because of its beat, so let the melody speak clearly"...seriously? I wonder how you acquired this information. Did you survey everyone on the planet or something?
Ahh , i see.
You are beyond feedback.
Good luck with the whole arrogant thing.

The irony of this statement is palpable.

I am beyond clearly biased points of view in the first sentence of a post. You did not attempt to critique the song here, you came in here to drag your rant from the other thread to something unrelated in a passive aggressive manner. Then you throw out some rash assumptions about the nature of music as though you have knowledge as to what everyone appreciates. I do not consider this "feedback".
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

No actually youre wrong.
I came in here because although my first impression of you was that you were an insolent prick , i thought to myself , everyone deserves a second chance. The very first sentence shows clearly that i was extending an olive branch , because most wouldnt even have listened.
I can see now that my first impression was right. This is the first and last time i listen to your music.

"Cobalt Surge" is absolute brilliance. The stereo imaging on it is great, guys! I'm pumped for this...lovely work! The bit at the end was a really nice comedown, and I liked the background rhythms at the end as well..added a nice wholeness to it! x

I have to say, accusing a clearly passionate artist of sampling Boards of Canada wholesale is pretty outrageous and it's very easy to see why he's upset. Sometimes, if it's not actually constructive feedback, then it's better left unsaid. And when it comes to Electronic music, to say beats are rarely memorable just seems pretty wild. I'm pretty sure that beats are of paramount importance in the genre and its offshoots as a whole. Personally, it's rare if I don't remember a track because of its beat. I couldn't get Brothomstates 'Kava' out of my head all day today and I've not listened to Claro in years. When that beat comes in at about 2.36 the rush is indescribable.

Seems to me I'm quite spot on. You came in here with a previously established point of view about me and expected the music I work on to be horrible because of it.

Business, as usual...and by no means do you have to listen to our music.

Cheers.

To everyone else: THANK YOU!

For the sake of clarity , i'll reply to this once , but after this im unsubbing because clearly , this guy is immune to any need to improve , and im not bumping this again.
The boc sample was my mistake. The confused smiley was supposed to be ( ? ) , but this tablets layout for symbols made me press the wrong thing. It wasnt until i seen the shocked reply that i realised. I was asking if it was a 1 note sample , rather than implying that it definitely was , so , for that , i apologise.

Secondly , i didnt say that beats were unimportant.
What i said was that its rare .......see that word ?.......RARE....for a track to be remembered because of its beat.
Ive been listening to this stuff since bam bam. I know what im talking about.
How many electronic tracks have been released , in any form , since 1985 ?
Millions ? Yes ?
And how many people have went to the shop and said , " oh , yknow....the one with the bass drum and the snare in it " , or..." im gonna buy that cos the hihats are incredible ? "
I woulda thought buying a track because of its melody , was blatantly obvious.

Anyways.....unsubbing cos im not bumping this again.

Yes, and I got that and did address that. I was simply saying I didn't think it was rare at all to remember a track because of a beat and thought my example should have made that obvious.
And actually, I remember walking into a shop in the 90's and attempting to describe "Quoth" to the record shop guy because I wanted the clear vinyl and much to his amusement, I pretty much attempted to describe it- awkwardly. As an unstoppable spiky percussion train, led by more beats. "It's like, pounding and industrial-esque but it's not Die Krupps and the urge to dance badly to it is strong, except it tricks you".
Ive been listening to this stuff since bam bam. I know what im talking about.
And I'm sure there's many a member on here that can say the same.

Anyway, don't want this to go off topic anymore than it has, back to the original music posted.
