Have you lost faith?
Haven't posted here in a while. Just wondering how strong would you guys say your faith is that new BoC is still to come?
During the whole black box thing I was pretty hopeful. A few months after, I thought it'd just be a longer wait than expected, but stuff is still to come.
Now, while I feel like it's still possible, but very unlikely. My river of hope has turned to a small trickle down a rock.
I do think there's a strong possibility that the Sandison's still do music and maybe release it under aliases, but regardless I think they don't want to be known anymore.

They said yes on their facebook, I know they then deleted that comment but surely thats a sign?
I imagine they took some considerable time off between TCH ep and 2010/11 and have now started working comprehensively on some new material. Seems suggestive with all things considered.
I wont lose hope because I know they are decent enough people to let us know if they are making music anymore or not. At the very least Warp would say something, it would be kinda alienating for a fanbase to be left in the dark forever, especially one as devoted as us Boccers.

I have faith. Or to be more precise I have no logical reason to doubt. Faith assumes some sort of absence of evidence or context.
I have, though, given up all hope of seeing something soon because there's nothing (to my way of thinking) to go on, for now.
What do we know?
1) It's been longer than normal break between releases for a artist/band of this type who haven't officially stated that they are done.
2) It's not unprecedented for an artist/band of this type to take a long break from releases
3) A release has been planned and then shelved in the interim
4) The reasons for the delay are unknown and it is the habit of BoC to say almost nothing except when promoting new releases
5) BoC like to take their time to get the right result.
That's it. In summary long breaks are a little unusual, but not unheard of and we can assume the time taken is a function of their perfectionism. That said, the idea of a bocset was, it seems, a serious prospect and we can't ascribe perfectionism as the reason for delaying that. It will have to remain a mystery for now.

where/when was this mentioned or are you just speculating yourself? "around 3" "I think..." suggests this to meThe909Virus wrote:They still have around 3 albums to release under their contract, I think..vitwelrel wrote:I was under the impression that they have a contract with Warp which makes them obliged to release another album?
My memory might just be terrible though, or it might have been something I read in a dream.
my idea for the bocset would be a multi cross folded affair derived from the childrens number game 'Hopscotch' - scotch refers to their homeplace. housing all their albums and eps on vinyl with their new album inside and a speicial release with everything they've unreleased.

Ah, thanks didn't realise they left itFredd-E wrote:They did not delete that "Yes".fujee wrote:They said yes on their facebook, I know they then deleted that comment but surely thats a sign?

except then i'd be tempted to play the game, and subsequently destroy the entire collection.thepastinsidepressant wrote:where/when was this mentioned or are you just speculating yourself? All valid points that I totally agree with! You've been around this board as long as I have, along with countless other fans...I think that's evidence we all have faith, I do anyways. Until the BoC Bros. say its over, I will continue toBunnyRabbit wrote: 1) It's been longer than normal break between releases for a artist/band of this type who haven't officially stated that they are done.
