The French expression tout à l'heure refers to a short period of time, but has two opposite meanings: it can refer to a moment in the recent past or in the near future.
A clearance in a wooded area, you startle a deer, it runs into the pines. Vast turquoise lakes and icy rivers, crisp mountain air. A bald eagle soars above. The distant sound of a chainsaw. Redwood smoke

early Bibio reminds me of TCH, the looped acoustic tricks etc. who ripped off who?
"One bad habit he seems to have picked up from more recent Boards of Canada-- who first brought him to the attention of the label Mush-- is a tendency to use ridged loops of short phrases as the basis of composition. On the bulk of the tracks he plays two or three bars on one chord, then two or three bars on another, and then back to the first, ad nauseum."

it's how i always felt about Bibio's first 2 albums, then read the reference here and thought i'm not
the only one. The period 2005-2006, Mush Records, TCH was released and these 2 Bibio albums hmm, i ain't saying but someone heard someone, liked it then went loopy on acoustic folk.

Oh, in that case you can be sure it's true.thepastinsidepressant wrote: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/1138-hand-cranked/
Similar to the overused review formula that they use for constantly suggesting that Ulrich Schnauss is rubbish.

yea i believe their reviews don't go down well with many people. i'm not bothered with them, i just came across that today but its a few years ago now since a friend gave me a cd with Bibio whom i had never heard of "give that a listen, if you like TCH, would make you wonder who heard who first" - or something along those lines i do recall him saying.GH wrote:Oh, in that case you can be sure it's true.thepastinsidepressant wrote: http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/1138-hand-cranked/

to be honest, when i first TCH i thought i'd fall off the chair and did not believe it was BOC and that it was one of the fake leaks. The acoustic guitars just did not ring well with me at all, not that i was expecting more weird stuff like Geogaddi, just nobody knew what to expect i think.
I would be super happy about that. Of course, I have my own ideas about how it should go (I'd prefer no singing, since I like bibio's and boc's wordless compositions best), but I'm always up for being surprised. After all, they're the experts in music, not me. Whatever direction they take, I'm always going to look forward to it.Tenfoureightytwo wrote:What if BOC did an album with Bibio?
On the other hand, I was hoping for a while that there would be an mbm and boc collaboration project, given the official boc youtube channel. Kinda like the mbm & orb collaboration around the RUOK period. That material was great. And the "...test" material on the mbm youtube channel (not to mention that amazing "forger" stuff) really captures that same great, goofy and crunch sound of that era.
Stop the scratches!

I'm fairly certain Marcus helped Bibio release Fi.... Or at least he helped get it out there.
And I love Bibio and BoC and they probably have influenced each other a bit. Though I definitely see some TCH on Vignetting.
But no I couldn't stand Mind Bokeh.
