It has taken a good long while, but Grimes has definitely grown on me. Visions remains the most accessible, but I do enjoy Halfaxa and the Darkbloom split EP she did with some other dude. For the longest time I couldn't get past her grimey/whiny voice, so I can't say I'm surprised at the divisiveness of posters here..def not for everyone. But I very much dig her. 8)

It just reminds me of Burial and Balam Acab a lot too. I think shes great to be honest, she seems like a cool person too.

I will own the album. I will own the album. I will own the album.

I also really like her personality. She's very normal in interviews and puts her all into her performances.
Oh, hey. I own the album now. I want the two re-released versions with the bonus songs and the vinyl version too, though. Visions is a masterpiece.

A friend of mine does a really good Grimes impersonation.

I know this thread is about Visions, but she released this track a few months back and it's cracking, not going on her album though strangely, still a MASSIVE improvement from "Go" which she did with Blood Diamonds, faux dubstep crap ugh. Anyway, this tune is great:

Grimes is the stuff I and my friend from the library put on the jukebox at the local old man's smoker's lounge when we get done recording our shitty podcast. I love Grimes.

grimes makes some pretty immediate stuff, but i can't get over how amateurish her stuff sounds. scales in songs are bad enough, but she had to do them in shitty, naked garageband piano

Grimes is piss from a dick. I can't stand it. There's girls like that all over art-school, with their gay little outfits and their crappy pentatonic in Eb scales because the white keys are to intimidating. It all sounds the same to me....damn kids these days! Don't know how to party anymore.
