Boards Of Canada - Peel Sessions Broadcast 21 July 1998

Post by nny »

Found this. It has the live recording of the show and this version of Aquarius even has a bit of speech by John Peel on the intro but doesnt seem to feature the rest of the interview that appeared recently on a recording of XYZ.
Since these are different recordings from the Peel Session official release, I was wondering if anyone had already heard these.

Ha, I was just gonna say the same thing. One of the best shows (and characters) of all time! 8)

Off topic, sorry.

I heard a version with parts of the interview (a few sentences before an after xyz) , but i wonder if anybody has taped the whole show in 1998? That is something nice to put on the net... :)

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having the original recording. I think playbynumbers on the WATMM forum has it on soulseek...

Well, a CD was made of that show (minus XYZ). Without the interview, what makes it different?

the difference is i think the cd was made with alternative versions of the studio tracks and this is a recording of the live performance at the bbc studio.
each song is different from the cd release, check for yourself.

Sorry if i'm being slow but are you saying the versions on the Peel Session EP are different to the versions actually played on the show? If so that's really strange.

(DLing now but i'm in work so can't listen to them!)

The tracks are exactly the same - it was just re-broadcast at a later date.

Well, I haven't listened to the whole show yet, but the Happy Cycling in this download is significantly different than the one included on the Peel Session. In fact, the Peel Session version is indistinguishable from the studio verson, imo.

In the version of Aquarius just posted you can hear the voice at the 4:56 mark much more distinctly than you can in the CD version. But that just may be because of the radio-quality of the rip.
