I understand that this protective mindset has been valuable in the last, well, 7 years. But a Warp representative dropped this off ... and it reads "Boards of Canada" and "Warp 2013" and you know that BoC loves to do mysterious stuff like this.

I'm usually hugely skeptical myself, but this is as close to legitimate as it gets. I didn't expect a press release ( "Hey guys, new BoC album coming in June from Warp" ) I was expecting a hugely cryptic piece of information, out of the blue, that we would have to work for. And that's exactly what this is. Can't wait for the string of 36 numbers to come together.

Also, fucking loving this ambient 8 minute piece.

Not real. Someone from 4chan uploaded it, someone IDed it in another thread as being not BoC.

If you worked in the store, would you sell the record? If they knew who BoC were they certainly would have had a fight who got the copy before even showing it to the public. Imagine the value of this copy! Also, the guys at the record shop confirms it just to add fuel to the fire which give them alot of free publicity.

Jumping on all this rabbit-hole later than most. Not sure if this has been mentioned, but a big thing that seems to debunk this whole thing anyways is the fact that the records were actually bought by customers in the store, rather than staff.

I mean, come on: you're working in a record store and ONE DAY you start stocking a Boards of Canada record on a shelf... there is *no way* you're going to leave that there for customers. Staff would have bought it. In at least one shop, somewhere, a member of staff would have grabbed it up straight away.

Another thing I noticed, probably nothing but:

Other Music (where the record was sold) and the Angel Orensanz (where the Geogaddi listening party was held) are less than a mile apart.

Now this, is PROBABLY JUST A COINCIDENCE; Other Music is not just same random store, it is well-known as one of the best shops in the city, if not the country. If you wanted to place a special record in NYC, Other Music would be a natural choice.

But, it couldn't hurt to check record nearby the other listening venues.

I called them myself, you can do the same. I got the same story. One single copy, 5 others out there in the world.

i thought this too, thats where its a risky marketing gimmick but you'd be surprised how many people never heard of them. if theres a few people working there chances are one of them would know about them or just that one person working there had his eyes light up with $$ $$.

Still no new response from the reddit user 'lilcakey' who supposedly has the album.

Twitter person who was immediately linked from 'lilcakey' on reddit has "iPhone: 37.455284,-122.170052" on his profile. Those are coordinates for Menlo Park, CA which is clearly not NYC.
