wow

Mirrorring was cool but I also really want to see Grouper some time. I recently e-mailed with her and she said she won't be coming back to Europe soon, though. However, I believe she has a couple of upcoming dates in the US, so go see her if you can.

Does anyone else just get a feeling of infinite death, surrender, and peace when listening to Grouper's music? It's so ancient.

So I recently upgraded /all/ of my stereo equipment to quite the high fidelity setup. I just spun the Mirrorring vinyl and... shit, man. The way the guitar strings pluck and bounce around the room is simply the most dizzying effect I've ever heard. I feel like I'm getting high off of it.

Just booked two tickets for me and my friend to go to the show in London, it looks spectacular. I love audio/visual collaborations.

It was so good! The film by Paul Clipson was an abstract and experimental journey through America, and Liz's music went absolutely perfect with it. It was incredibly hypnotic, I found myself completely zoned in on the score and visual, sometimes wandering off completely into my own thoughts. Part of me thinks that the whole show was intended to induce a state of sleepiness or hypnosis because my friend who also came seemed to experience a similar state to me.

Anyway, she used a lot of tapes throughout the show, and some minimal vocal work.. numerous tape players fed into a sampler then a mixing desk, on to the main board. She worked with the film to a stop watch, very impressive. Met her afterwards, she said the sounds we heard were completely unique to the project and none of it would sound like the stuff she was bringing out in October (that's right folks, new album in a few months!). Lovely person too, very calm and polite, exactly how I expected really!

Top notch, so glad I went. Want to see her do a solo show now..

Oh, and I met a really nice guy in a BoC t-shirt afterwards called Cameron, it was the first time I've seen someone with a BoC t shirt on other than my friends!
