Finally our EP is up on the Hidden Music site and freely downloadable. Something of a taster for the album, with three tracks remixed and a couple of tunes exclusive to this release.
Just gave the EP a good listen. There's some solid tunes here. As I've said before, I really like Bright Colours, Falsely Seen. I'm also a fan of Middlesex Beach. I'll be watching for your release. I love this emotive underground stuff.
My only criticism (and keep in mind that I know next to nothing about music production, so I'm not even sure what the issues involved are) is that the drums need more "umph," if you know what I mean. I think in terms of editing and stuff they're perfect, but if they were mixed with a little more depth it would do wonders for the tunes. I hope that makes sense.
But I love them anyway. I'm gonna load that EP into I-tunes. Keep us posted.
Cheers for the feedback everyone. I'm busy taking notes. The bass 'oomph' is something we've hopefully addressed on the album proper, with a spot of remastering.
Obviously I'm tempted to now give the EP a bit of a boost too.
Also got my studio room almost sorted, and I've budgeted for a pair of decent studio monitors, which should help too. It's a devil to mix bass through a hi-fi.

If you do, plz repost as I feel your ep has a ton of potential. (Although Bright Colours is perfect. Listened to that one more than a few times last night =-).
Finally recording and mixing on my studio monitors (Mackie HR-824's, as opposed to headphones for the last couple of years) has really opened up my ears.. that and my iPod.. and car. Just switching between systems constantly seeing how things sound. Evidently I still have reflection/absorption issues as some work from this weekend is TOO bass heavy. Bah.
Now, my stuff still has problems, but to me, it sounds better overall than it used to, because of using the monitors. Still a lot to learn.
I've been looping "Bipolar". That's definitely my favorite track. I've got a real soft spot for distorted/scratchy synths and reverbed-out drums. I haven't listened on any other systems except my headphones. Oops.
just listening to it now. bright colours falsley seen is gorgeous. middlesex beach is fresh. just listening to q-met now, which is also lovely. the EP, as a whole, is a fairly cohesive piece. i wouldn't change a thing.
