At this point, it seems like DJs are just playing the clips on their own. Not part of the intended treasure hunt. My bet is that's what happened on Radio 6.

I'm not entirely convinced that Yermo is featured in the latest video. So far, the similarities are the desert setting and that abandoned gas station. Surely more than one gas station (or whatever that building in the video is) has that same design and is also in the desert. I suppose I'd have to see more pictures from that area featuring the same structures, like the L-shaped building.

Anyway, sans the numbers and placement, I don't think the video holds any more clues. Rather, it's probably indicative of the themes that BoC were inspired by to make the new music, similar to the "Invocation" video, I suppose.

I'd say Radio 6 counts as an official repeat play - the code was the very same one they're already cleared to play (originally on Radio 1).

As the code broadcast in question originated on BBC Radio, I'm sure BOC / Warp at least have no real problem with them playing the specific code they were given more than just once. Especially in the case of Stuart Maconie's show, which as you may know is particularly well suited to transmitting this sort of thing - with Stuart himself being a bit of a BOC fan, having dedicated a show to them earlier this year.

Righto, back at work this morning............been buckling my fragile little mind with BOC all weekend and looking through my kaleidoscope :)

Looking forward to some progress this week.

Or I might just go completely crackers

BTW, just to clarify.......is it just me who is getting all protective of our BOC cult these days? Plenty of friends asking me for BOC stuff to listen to to see if its "up to the hype" and I am just batting them away.....

"Its mine, they are mine and you cant have it, no no ......MIIIIINE"

I've thought about that to. Like the warp guy actually giving the store a copy of the record. So the video could possibly be just some of the brother's cronys doing that work for them. Perhaps they got to edit the film...lol

or maybe they just shot that shit themselves. they did have that suv in the arctic n shit tho

this new boc approach is incorporating all of the elements into one.

The footage was by Neil Krug, honeybadgeco. (they did tweet, but then removed it)
Warp/boc will have commissioned him to do the work. He's done a video for IABPOITC in the past. So chances are BoC found him and put him to work as he is a shit load nearer Cali than they are.

Gonna guess that's because they're not supposed to be part of it so they've grabbed the best recording of it they can, and the best picture they can (of the sleeve), and not realised the significance.

Seems they actually play the worst recording of it, sounds like the recording from outside Rough Trade East. Anyway I don't think this is important.

The tidiest answer would be having to decode the number string using a One Time Pad.

Considering they're calling this Easter egg hunt a "numbers station for the fans" (or whatever that unintended Reaper tag read.)

That's my guess anyway, it's the cleanest answer to their puzzle.

I've found myself looking through my kaleidoscope a lot over the last week too. Gets me instantly into the BoC mood.

As for the protective stuff, I kind of know what you mean. A friend of mine who has never been into BoC before posted Dayvan Cowboy on his facebook the other day saying something like "new boards of canada coming oh yehhh". This left me in two moods. 1 being that I'm happy BoC is reaching more people and I'm not just the only one appreciating their music. But 2 being like "dude you can't just play Dayvan Cowboy a couple of times and call yourself a BoC fan".

Lol, nobody where I'm from has even heard of BoC. I've met maybe one other BoC fan in person, and I think one of my friends said, "Oh yeah, they have that video of the guy skydiving right?" when I asked.

What I get for being in the U.S. I suppose. Oh well, doesn't bother me, but it would be nice to have someone to share my enthusiasm with.

In fact, most of my friends who claim to know the band only listen to Dayvan Cowboy. That's quite a shame if you ask me.

Oh my. I was afraid this would happen but I honestly didn't think it would.

I'm the guy behind the podcast, have been for the last 3 years, and for a while now, I've got into the habit of ending the podcast with a fun bit. It could be dialogs from a movie, a weird or funny music bit, usually something completely random. This week, I decided to use one of the BoC cryptic audio tracks because I'm a huge fan of the band and thought the whole "scavenger's hunt" about the new album was quite fun. And I used the picture to match.

Please don't read anything else into it, especially not a silly attempt to gather more audience. It was just meant to be fun. ;)

Cheers!
