Dilemma

So.......probably like 5x10 to the power of 364 people on earth, I purchased the new CD within seconds of release.........main reason was zero cash and this was the easiest way of getting the music. REALLY what I care about tbh.

But, now I am thinking......should i buy the vinyl?

I really cant afford it but i like the idea of collectables of things i love...........especially quirky ones.

I am not in any way a BOC collector........i mean, my collection consists of 2 stickers, trans canada highway cd, the blue skam cd and said kaliedoscope. FLOL!

is this vinyl really going to be a collectable you think? I am thinking that the scale of this operation will mean literally thousands of these vinyl being produced

Was geogaddi etc produced in such a scale?

Everything they release is a collectable. As far as I am concerned, this is your best chance to get the vinyl. Now. Buy it. I am a broke college student and I am grouping POCKET CHANGE to get the vinyl.

I don't think this is going to be as rare as their other vinyl releases are, but I picked up both anyway because I've been waiting 8 fucking years for this release! They'll probably keep it in production for a while, I donno though...

I never had a turntable until the Warp20 box set was announced, and the reports at first were that there would be previously un-released Boards of Canada material in it (747) and that this would not be available on CD (at least, that was what I was led to believe). So, that was the first vinyl I bought, and I ended up buying one Technics 1210 for it. Then... vinyl became near-enough the only thing I would spend money on! I ended up getting a secord T12 and amassing a fair collection of records, for the time in which I started buying. Maybe the same thing will happen to you, now.....

I've got to say, looking through the racks at a local independent for one of the clue discs, and they had some handsome looking vinyl in there. Was almost tempted to buy the Exai box but I sold my turntable years ago.

But anyway, disc after disc and they had little stickers on saying "comes with free MP3 download" which seems to be becoming standard nowadays... and that changes things I think. I like having a physical artefact for the music I love, and that's always been CDs up til now, because of being able to rip a legit perfect digital copy for listening, they're harder to accidentally put an arm through etc but if the MP3 comes for free then why not get the vinyl? Bigger artwork and more collectable.

So it did make me think.

This. I haven't had a proper SL1200 set up since the 90's but I still buy vinyl. All my BoC vinyl is unplayed and I have it all (except you know what! XXXXXX).

I love vinyl covers and inserts to enjoy the artwork. Mostly, I love listening to music on vinyl, but I don't have a deck and a hi-fi anymore to enjoy with. Instead, I am going to spend ¥20,000 on headphones before the new release.

I tested a lot of headphones and was most impressed with the Dr. Dre headphones.

Sennheiser makes some really, really great headphones for much cheaper. You should definitely check some of theirs out if you haven't already.

deafinitely Sennheiser, the AIAIAI are said to be good too. Hate them Dre things, 3 times overpriced.

please do not buy beats. pleasepleaseplease with a cherry on top. you say they're nice when honestly you pay so much more for the name and the over-pumped bass.

i'd invest in a good pair of senheisers/audio-technicas
i've had my ATH-M50s for almost 2 years and i love them to death, got them modded for a short cable for a small price and they were even better.

i always find it odd that people who dont own a turntable will buy vinyl. i mean, its BoC here so i completely understand but i know people who buy records "to be cool"

that being said i bought two copies of the record so i could have one to listen to and one to keep sealed. its the ocd collector in me. i dont have a huge collection, maybe 200 or so records, easily twice as many cds as i own thats for sure. if you have a good turntable or hell just a decent one with a good needle and an alright sound system you will never have a hard time listening to the album in any other form.

if i could strap a record player to my back i totally would

I tried both Seinheisers and Audio-Technicas that were about ¥15,000 (about ¥5,000 cheaper), the mids were nice, but this model just seemed have more depth.

I like both the red and white. I'm not buying for the brand name, I was really impressed with the sound. The bass kick was just perfect and sounded really clean. the mids were really nice, too. It's a lot of money and I did try a level up from them which I thought was less impressive!
