And to add to that, they also spoke of an acoustic version of Music has the right to children that they were working on. They mentioned this in an interview and said some of the work is in existence.

It is more likely they would release pre-twoism stuff than MHTRTC acoustic stuff id say but I can dream / hope.

I'm really confused. I pre-ordered the CD from bleep. Now I have pre-ordered this 'LTD edition art card' CD from an indie store. But I have no idea if they are actually different versions or not.

I noticed that on Monday Bleep pre-orders said that CD comes with 16-page booklet. But, on Tuesday it said it comes with art cards. Can it be that the booklet was very limited edition and it sold out on Monday already?

I have emailed them so when I receive a reply tomorrow I'll post on here what the dealio is

Well personally, although the Tomorrow's Harvest vid is a droning composition, I don't see a close link between this video and Stars of the Lid. TH Transmission sounds somewhat noisier, more ominous and lo-fi than SotL, at least in my mind. Impact wise, it hits me as hard as SotL's music! However, the vid reminds me of The Beach At Redpoint too. It sounds bleak and pre-apocalyptic.

Hello to all.


New here, but a tried and true b0c vet with many, many years as a fan and countless of thousands of hours listened.

I say the above not to impress anyone, but rather, from the fans I've met, there are the ones who dig the vibe and general sound, and simply are fans, and then are are the other folk, who ..somehow..sense something much greater at work(play) here.

There is a preternatural language that lies just beneath the ancient structure we excavate by listening. There is a secret amidst the (dis)chords.





I'm really excited for this album in general, but more specifically, after I heard and saw the video, I was elated to see Mike and Marcus going back to the darker fringe of their work. Or perhaps moving forward. More on that in a second. This is the -old- alchemy here that the older heads like myself miss, and do so pine indefinitely for.

Because..ya know, it is not ever..ever successfully duplicated. It cannot be.

This style is what I wasn't really seeing in Campfire and TCH.

This is that barren wasteland that is all at once desolate and radiant.

This is the darker edge of the woods. The darker rivers of your heart. The places you don't talk about to anyone, that in spite of that persist...and linger. And this is b0c at their finest.


We're going to see a rebirth here. And it is absolutely on purpose. You guys always must remember, everything they do is a play by numbers. ...Just as I used the expression now with a double reference to an older work. But of course, you wouldn't know that unless you knew the album.

They waited. They purposely waited. They wove the fabric during their active years. They evolved their sound to it's latter-day, modernist(for them, mind you), engaging clarity. But it was too rich a tapestry for it's own good. They began to civilize the primordial(prime audio) soup from whence it first came..but into a creature that conveyed less wisdom, and instead spoke more words.

All civilizations invariably fall. This album is back into the woods with the lads. This is that first cycle again.

And it just so happens to be my fucking favorite.


This particular sound, is what got me into the Boards. This austere, solitary, overwhelmingly emotional breadth of life. It knows me somehow. I cannot hide from it. It knows my every secret. It has many secrets to impart. I must be worthy though. I must be brave enough to surrender.

This sound is the ultimate perception of our stark reality as we truly exist in nature and in the universe. This is every moment you ever spent from your first breath to your last. This is that time you went out into the winter wonderland as a kid and thought, " I'm never going back, this is just too beautiful to part with." This is that moment you wrestled your rabbit-eared antenna on your thirteen-inch television in the years after your winter wanderings and ponderings.



You cannot hide from them. Do not try. Because they know. And they only want to set you free.


I ask you then, wouldn't you like to be free?

I didn't read this in a way that suggested he had heard it, just that their work is like, literally a play by number, not an actual reference to the actual PBN record.

Same with the audio on 'Cosecha Signal One', I could have sworn it comes from an existing BoC track.

Reading interview comments like this one just make me more and more antsy to hear the new album. Maybe reading them isn't a good way to pass the time as it just gets me more amped!

Hi. I'm new here, but certainly not new to BOC. Long time fan and obsessive vinyl collector. I have searched exhaustively and found absolutely no info, so if anyone would care to speculate on the following, please do. I feel like there's something wrong with the fact that I've yet to see pre orders sell out. It looks like this record will be made abundantly available, therefore decreasing its value, which makes it an anomaly in anyone's vinyl BOC collection since all their releases are quite valuble. My BOC catalogue alone is worth in the excess of $1500. So I just feel like something's missing... I was kind of expecting the first 500 pre orders to be a ltd edition. but have yet to see anything like that. Sure, a few of my records I actually bought in a store at the time of release, for normal retail values, and yes, it took years before they reached current values, but I just can't help but feel like this vinyl press is going to be nothing to get excited about (from a collectors standpoint... Don't get me wrong I was so excited when I discovered the new album that I pissed myself). So what are your thoughts? And I'm not talking about the cd with the art cards...

I'm guessing The Wicker Man was one of the influence's on the brothers for this album, even though they got the idea for the Geogaddi cover from one of the scenes.

I do find it a bit disappointing that there was no LTD edition/180 gram version, or seemingly no edition of the CD or vinyl with bonus tracks. Maybe it will come in the future. But for now I'm too happy about there being a new album to care.

I know its SF but there are also hills in that cover that are not from that site...its more than just SF... I am not as concerned with the hills as I am with who did the cover art though. Very curious. I thought BoC usually did the art themselves but this one seems different.

Thanks for bringing this up! I felt the same way since I first saw it, too. I think the new cover art is cool and all, but it doesn't convey that same nostalgic feeling that brings me back to my childhood. I guess TCH doesn't really do that either, but this album cover just feels a little un-BOC'ish to me at least. Really hope the music is on-point, can't wait to listen.

This is my first time posting (recently felt compelled to join in after years of fandom).

I think that the choice of San Francisco/Naval Air Station Alameda is really interesting. I recently started reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick, which takes place after "World War Terminus" (an incredibly damaging nuclear melee). The main character, Rick Deckard, works as an android bounty hunter. From what I can tell thus far...animals are scarce and the remnants of nuclear destruction are all too common.

The story takes place in San Francisco and, according to the book's wiki (trying hard not to ruin anything for myself though), Deckard lives on the east side of the San Francisco Bay which is where Alameda is located. Apparently the area was an Indian burial ground, and base was pretty active during the Cold War (http://www.alamedanavalairmuseum.org/History/NAS.aspx). Now, it's a Superfund site ("...EPA's program to identify, investigate and clean up uncontrolled or abandoned hazardous waste sites throughout the United States."). As a person in the environmental field...the thought rattles the mind. I'm not sure if this was the reason for choosing San Francisco, but it seems like it could be something that influenced the brothers...being the inspiration for Blade Runner and all.

Each one of their albums has a theme. The nostalgia of MHTRTC, the creepy/sociopolitical Geoogaddi, and the psychedelic road trip of The Campfire Headphase. The artwork suggests something both futuristic but nodding to that Cold War-era nuclear fear. But it seems as though these harsh possibilities are more real than ever or, at the very least, more likely than at the time of "duck and cover" techniques.

Thanks for loving this band as much as I do.
