I love how everyone has their own secluded spot in nature to listen to music in. Listening to BoC just compliments the natural world so wonderfully.

Holkham Beach, Norfolk, England. This is 5 minutes down the road from me. If you pick the right time you can have the whole place to yourself!

Gonna lay down in bed with the lights off and a candle lit.

Probably going to pick up a new set of headphones too.

When the album comes out I'm headed straight for the Alameda Air Station to chill and watch over San Francisco waiting for something cool to happen as i listen to the new tunes.

I'll probably listen to a digital version first, since I want to hear the album as a whole without any distractions (i.e. exchanging sides of vinyl) for the first time.

I'm gonna be in the dark on my laptop listening on either my Sennheiser HD590s or Sennheiser HD580s.

I definitely agree with this, although this will also be my first BOC vinyl experience, so I look forward to that with equal anticipation.

It's really interesting to see the pics of the varied spots/ways people will be listening first. I think your environment will definitely set the tone for how your ears digest the music.

Myself? I'm going to go with my gut on the album's surface aesthetic and run out to the Bonneville Salt Flats in Nevada--awesome desolation in the Silver Island Mountains, surrounded by 44,000 acres of salt flats--a totally fitting post-nuclear landscape. It's one of the few places in the US where you can see the curvature of the Earth. Depending on the day it's released, I have a couple specific spots in mind. It just depends which I can get to after work before dark, because I know I won't be able to wait very long! Perhaps out of this cave?:

or maybe a bit higher up if I have more time:

At the rate things are moving, June 10 might actually be the day I officially drop out of school, so it's probably going to be more like a funeral party or something.
