Another TCH lover here. I've been with BoC for a while, but I still love that one probably the best.

Most skipped song? Probably Alpha and Omega. It's a great song, but because one of my more annoying friends that ended up listening to BoC with me was like OMGLOOK I GOT THIS SONG AND IT'S GOOD YEAH BOARDS OF.. WHAT WAS IT? ALASKA? OH WELL IT'S GOOD.

I can't bear to listen to it ever again now.

I would be interested if, three and a half years of radio silence later, any of us have skipped songs anymore!

For example- taking into account that I moved all my music from my old dying computer to an external HD in December 2011 (one year and six months after I had started listening to BoC heavily), meaning that the play count was set to 0 from that point- I have listened to everything (A Few Old Tunes 1&2, Hi Scores, Twoism, Random 35 Track Tape(A01-15, B01-20), MHTRTC, Peel Session, Aquarius, Geogaddi, The Campfire Headphase and Trans Canada) at least 3 times EXCEPT for the song Chinook. I have not listened to it. I mean, I've listened to it, just not on my computer. And probably not since 2010. Anyway, this is starting to get convoluted.

I pretty much always skip You Could Feel the Sky the instant it comes on. I love literally every other boc track (except maybe chinook kinda sucks too) but what the fuck kind of song has the entirety of it's beat sounding like some dude ripping up styrofoam.

literally the only boc track i can't do, though i actually don't dislike it. i just have a slight disorder in my left ear (a problem with the eustachian tube if you must know) and those shrill synth chords just aggravate it like nothing else can. it's annoying to me because everyone seems to really love this track and i'll just never fully be able to understand why. i can sense that the simplicity of it must be appealing but i much prefer denser things like the meat beat manifesto remix, which is just a tour-de-force of amazing little boc moments. "bishop" sounds almost unfinished in comparison. the most "eventful" thing that happens is the fluttering sounds @ 5:09, the hilariously subdued "climax" of a pretty low-key track.

I mentioned this on another thread, but gyroscope. I think it's one of the coolest songs ever because it makes me feel like I'm in a fever dream and I'm hallucinating, but I don't particularly relish feeling like that all the time.

I tend to listen least to the funky industrial sounding ones like Nlogax, i guess that's partly what boc were into in the late 80s/early 90s but the beats just sound a bit dated and cheesy to me.

Also tend to skip a lot of the tracks on the campfire headphase, its a good album just not particularly interesting by their standards. also the why? and clouddead remixes, i prefer boc's music without vocals really.

I wholly agree. I don't dislike it but it struck me as a 'difficult' track from the moment I first heard it. I don't understand why it's the most loved thing on that EP by most people either. I much prefer Kid For Today and the title track myself.

pretty sure that's the point. that drum loop is a nod to "last night a dj saved my life" and i think that reference is key to understanding the track and its sense of humour. the concept for the entire thing seems to be "what if a fairly typical dance track gradually became absolutely nightmarish and hallucinatory midway through?" it's pretty subversive to think about someone sneaking it into a dj set & having the crowd into it at first, only to clear the floor a few minutes later.

Admittedly I've never actually thought of it that way, I've always taken the track and face value, and liked it. A lot.
But I've got to hand it to you, the mental image you've just created for me is hilarious.

well said. This is what I love about the dancier tracks on old tunes, it's great. Dance music that's dropped acid. I think it's really funny and I love the way it sounds.

Not counting pre-Twoism stuff because there are a lot of things on Old Tunes that I tend to skip a lot, my least frequently played BoC songs (and by least frequently I mean I'm counting the ones with less than than 10 plays in the 11 months I've been a BoC fan) are:

Niagara, Iced Cooly, Aquarius V3, Olson V3, 1986 Summer Fire, Dayvan Cowboy (Odd Nosdam Remix), Chinook, Nova Scotia Robots, Hi Scores, Nlogax, Basefree, Melissa Juice, Magic Window, Zoetrope, Under The Coke Sign, Farewell Fire, Ataronchronon and Heard From Telegraph Lines

none really, I love them all. they're my favorite band. When I listen to their music usually I'll endure the whole album but that's just because I have a lot of free time and absolutely love their music.

ah, wow, i never picked up on the reference to another song, though i'm sure i've read the bit about turning into a nightmare. makes me wonder if a dj has ever played boc like this; probably wouldn't get away with it these days.

Probably Magic Window, since I actually removed it and have From One Source All Things Depend there instead.

Other than that, something from Old Tunes for sure. If we're just talking about official releases, probably one of the three or four tracks on Campfire Headphase that sound the same.

I also tend to skip Triangles and Rhombuses and Smokes Quantity. Not because they're necessarily bad, but just because they don't hold my interest. One has way too much fading (and that beautiful vignette should have been at the beginning of Sixtyten instead) and the other starts nowhere goes absolutely fucking nowhere.
