Yes. Interested and repeating. Any chance of getting an MP3?

production quality

Post by mokaz »

Hi all,

Although i really like the RFTD track i can't help but compare with older works and to me production wise the later work sounds muffled and quite digital.

Ahh its maybe just me but well I still have that feeling on every listens...

Cheers,
m.

Tom Ravenscroft on BBC Radio 6 Music with a double-whammy of top tunes; just played Reach For The Dead followed immediately by an Advisory Circle (Ghost Box records) track - brilliant!

In iTunes alone since the single download I've listened to it 90 times. Beyond that there's my phone, and the video, and the Japan recording, and, and, and...

Dammit, I went to see Depeche Mode live last night. Less than 12 hours later I was back on the RftD. And Gemini. And White Cyclosa.

I'm hovering somewhere between 20 and 30 myself.

I was listening. I was glad to hear it, I already would've figured Tom was a fan so seemed like a likely choice to play it, but it seems like the track is actually getting some airplay on 6music if this week is anything to go by, it was featured on Steve Lamacq's Roundtable and was played on a couple of other shows.

Seems like the is the first time Boards of Canada have been seen as moderately commercial? They reached out to all forms of media for the ARG campaign and now they're being talked about in all forms of media. They're bigger than they've ever been before from what I can tell. I knew little about music back when Geogaddi or TCH were released so I wouldn't know if there was much hype for them in the mainstream then but I'm guessing there wasn't anything like the current reaction.

I've maybe listened to the single 10 times. I don't want to overdo it outside of the context of the full album.

Hi I just wanted to share this :

Tonight for the first time I listened to Reach For The Dead carefully with headphones.

I was just like "oh it's nice" until 0:56 and then I realized : "Oh, it's them"

And then all along the track with higher intensity "Oh it's really them ! omg it's them they're back" and I was smiling and so happy

Just realised there are two different versions of the RFTD video and watched them side by side to take in the differences. Whoah... :)

Is it just me or did anyone who listened to the stream last night think the kick drums on RFTD sounded deeper/better than the video and MP3 release? I know this track has really divided the fans for many reasons but the kicks have been my only slight (very slight) problem with RFTD, not having enough low end.

Is it to do with whatever bit rate of the broadcast was or could the album mix be slightly different?

I've been trying to see what that is too. This is playing forwards then backwards: Image

its a child jumping up and down on a trampoline..

to make it easier for some of you to see, notice how the arms go up in the air on the way back down.

I know its not an exact time match but you've got to give it a try!

Play RFTD and watch this video on mute.

It just suits the track so well. Definitely worth a watch!

I think the child on a trampoline is an optical illusion. Looks to me more like two flames; one shooting up from the bottom, jigged and reversed, then another from the left side same thing...??

Anyway bumping this thread cos I love this tune! Thought it a bit safe (but good) when I first heard it, but now its always going around in my head, very subtle and very beautiful
...what subtlety?
