Tomorrow's Harvest vinyl qualities

I used to not care about colored vinyl, but now I kind of dig it. It adds a nice touch to the physical object of an album. Hadn't seen this topic or a post regarding this idea yet, apologies if its been done.

What if the TH 2LP set comes with colored vinyl? I doubt it will, but with all the teasers that would be an awesome surprise.

I absolutely loved the use of sky blue vinyl for IABPOITC and white vinyl for TCH.

Not sure coloured vinyl would suit this release though.

My experience of coloured vinyl is that the audio quality isn't all that. Give me a solid black vinyl pressing (preferably 180g) any day.

Picture discs are the devil's work.

This. Isn't there somenone on this forum who has the promo 12" of IABPOITC, on 180gr black vinyl? Apparently, it pisses all over the blue vinyl version from a height in terms of sound quality.

If Warp ever decide to repress those EPs on regular black vinyl, I'll be all over them like a rash. Especially as IABPOITC is one of my favourite slabs of wax ever.

any little special fetures added to a plain black record will almost always detract from audio quality

From what I'm used to, first, original pressings are blank. Only later will they actually do anything.

That being said, I've never had the blessing of experiencing a physical copy of the Works, and this shall be my first.

It would be so cool if they had an etching, but...the album is 60 minutes long. 2 plates. ~15min/side, so it's not going to happen.

Just out of curiosity, why do you guys feel it wouldn't work for this particular release? If it were a triple set like Geogaddi, would you not want an etching?

I don't think 180g is all it's cracked up to be. Though, Warp would do it proper of course. I'd be perfectly fine with 150g which is still durable and long lasting like 180g. I think the difference in sound is quite negligible.

I agree though, the sky blue was perfect for IABPOITC and white was perfect for Trans Canada Highway.

Please no pictures discs.

Yeah, same with clear vinyl. I bought Radiohead's TKOL which came on clear 45rpm vinyl. I treated it like a prince like I do with all of my other records, and the amount of pops and crackles are ridiculous. On the other hand, my In Rainbows vinyl which is 180g black vinyl, which I've listened to about the same amount of times (if not more) sounds the same as it did the day I bought it. So I sincerely hope that this is pressed on standard black vinyl. If it's 180g then that's even better, but bleep hasn't mentioned that anywhere.

OK to clear this myth up.

There is no difference in sound between a 150 and a 180g vinyl, or a 130 and what ever. The difference in sound is only a reflection of the mastering process or on rare occasions faults on the vinyl surface. The colour of the vinyl will have no effect on the quality of the sound.. These thoughts floating around are just classic vinyl myths.

I hope we get 180g vinyl too. Fingers crossed, but i'm pretty confident it will be weighty

the only reason vinyl is black is because record companies had mutually agreed that black records were the most visually appealing.

Not entirely true. You can press "marble"-styled vinyl with recycled vinyl for cheap. Numero Group did it with their 2011 Pressed at Boddie compilation RSD release and it sounded great! 150 or 180g too.
