Roygbiv Remix:

Kiteracer 2 Remix:
Weird. I was listening to Kiteracer 2 earlier this morning (love love love that tune) and was thinking how it would be interesting to put to beats and now this. I must say I actually liked it more before the beats kicked in but its the better of the two.

The Roygbiv one is pretty but that bass made run away fast.

Seems like I'm always in the minority. I think these are absolutely atrocious in every single way.

why? people dont like deadmau5? because he remixed an old tune?
I think some people can be a bit contrarian to the Mau5 because he's "mainstream". Personally, Deadmau5 will always hold a special place in my heart for introducing me to electronic music, and even introducing me to Boards of Canada through the remizes he did of their tunes. So yeah, I suppose I like Deadmau5, though I think his older material is superior.

yeah he made the track "Bored of Canada' as well. that album in particular is actually more of his experimental stuff. Check it out, it's called Get Scraped. You can tell he was inspired by BoC

I actually know nothing about deadmau5 except for that mouse icon that seems to be everywhere, so I want to clarify that my dislike of that Roygbiv remix has nothing to do with who made it. I just hate wobble bass.

(This is a serious question - is deadmau5 a dubstep producer? Does this Roygbiv remix count as dubstep?)

Also, the Kiteracer remix is good for what it is, but it's just not my thing. You know, personal taste and all that. I don't want to sound super negative, and I'm glad deadmau5 is a fan too, but I have a feeling I just wouldn't be into what he does - which says a lot about me and probably very little about his value and skill as an musician.

I love it, but it isn't even the same song. It is so different as to be something at least partially new.

I don't really like these but I don't hate them either. I actually only just heard deadmau5 for the first time recently and I had always assumed I would hate him because I hate that stupid mouse head, but it wasn't that bad, it's just not really my thing.

This is my problem with Deadmau5

1.Has very poor branding taste and taste in general , album covers , music videos , live sets etc
2.Has ripped off Daft Punk on so many levels that id have to make a new thread to list them
3.His music is glorified garageband loops and his production process is cheap and lazy .
4.He is a total asshole to fans and other artists alike .
5.He is almost as bad as Will.i.am for shameless tasteless self promotion
6.Exhibits no live talent . His excuse is "we all press play" well thats BS to those of us who make music
7.Im embarrassed that he's Canadian .

"Daft Punk was asked for their opinions on DJs such as Deadmau5 and Skrillex, the band's Thomas Bangalter said: "Deadmau5? No. I wouldn't listen to Deadmau5 for pleasure."

One song by Boards Of Canada could trump an entire Deadmau5 album .

Feel free to add to this list .

Meh, I think everyone is getting a little cynical with their music tastes. Though I would agree with you that Daft Punk sucks, Deadmau5 is an alright producer. I don't particularly favor his music but it has it's roots in my taste, which ironically leads to Boards of Canada(which are vastly more talented then the previous mentioned),

To the guy that was listing off reasons to not like deadmau5, it barely had anything to do with the actual music, which is what this whole thing really should be about.

i agree, it should be about the music, but sometimes its really hard to...not focus on the personal life of the person who is giving you that music, and it definitely affects how you feel about the music.

i bet if we knew the brothers as well as one could know mr deadmau5, whatever his name was, we would probably find things about them we don't like, and it would affect us.

I know what your saying and I'll admit that it did affect my disposition of him a bit, when I learned he was indeed an ass, but sometimes asshole's just make good music. Him, not being the poster boy but WHAT IF, boc were in fact assholes? How do we really know what else they are? It wouldn't change the fact that their music is the soundtrack of my life, therefore I would still respect them. BoC are probably not assholes, but in a hypothetical approach we can see with eyes unclouded.

Well, I don't agree with that . Homework is excellent in my opinion and they have had some amazing videos , each to his own though .

I don't put sampling in the same category as ripping someone off if they use them in a fresh way . If I did then I would have to say BOC ripped off Sesame street & NFB ... which they blatantly did . But we all love that don't we ?

Obviously these are all based in opinions .

However all personal dislikes aside for the guy I think his music lacks creativity and production value and just doesn't sound as pleasant as many in the genre . Sounds like a garageband demo project and to me i don't wanna listen to something thats boring and cheap sounding because it takes away from the music it's self . I think if he was better at arranging or at least took time with it and his production technique then id love his melodies . But he doesn't and for that specific reason I dislike him personally and his music .

there is a quite a large difference between

a) sampling a song which doesn't make up the majority of the song
b) taking Breakwater's Release The Beast and then saying "robot rock" with a talkbox over it and calling it your own

They are not "shit" but they sound really boring, like the sample songs made with standard patterns you find when you purchase studio softwares.

Are you really comparing Deadmau5 to Daft Punk and BoC? Jesus.

I'm a fan of The Fall, so am quite used to being into a band, where the leader is an asshole (although Mark E Smith is quite funny sometimes as well). So if we ever knew what the brothers were like, I doubt it would make much difference to me.
