Does vinyl really change how the record sounds?
The needle that etches the first dubplate can't cut the 90° angles of a digital waveform, so it ends up rounding off all of the peaks and edges and creating a sinusoidal, analog groove, even if the original sound was entirely digital. I was really surprised when I heard my first track on vinyl because it sounded so much warmer and more brilliant than the sounds I'd just had mastered.
+1!

Thanks for the details guys! I have Geogaddi on vinyl and never had the opportunity to play it, I don't have any turntable, but now it's time for things to change :)

Definitely. Vinyl has it's own distinct sound and I happen to be a big fan of it. FLACS are great and convenient too, but listening to a record is it's own distinct experience.

I'm not usually a fetishist about material objects, but there's definitely a whole ritual to getting your record out and putting it on and having the nice big album art to look through.

I'm still on the fence tho between awesome headphones or subs but I've always been a sucker for twelves...

but yeah one must master incorporating the virgin-triple-record-flip into their record draw/mount...

I kind of wish they'd do a shortwave broadcast of this album.

All the best purchases are frivolous. Besides, to quote a mate of mine, '..it's f*** all in a five-year plan'

Nice. I just think headphones create weird ear pressure. My father in law had a wall of 12 - 12" subs in his '77(I think) caprice-impala. It used to blow your hair in a powerful wind. Windows down at high vol. or blown windows. Luv me sum twelves. He used to say there are special bass frequencies that simply cant be produced under 12". Thats why I pawned my current rig, he didn't even want it cheap. They were tens.

...and yeah u don't wanna get jacked from behind for those babies. Easy to snatch + reduced situational awareness!

I think i've decided against listening to the stream, i'd rather be away from a computer screen the first time i hear it.

I have my first day back to work (college semester ended, back home for the summer) tomorrow at 4:30 ... at this point I'm fully prepared to wait until the 11th when the physical copy shows up at my house. So I'm not too worried.
But with this said, I'm sure temptation will override and I'll listen to songs anyway after the fact.

Cool, though! Enjoy, everyone!

I'm a little annoyed this will be broadcast while I'm at work. I guess maybe I will just wait for the actual release.
