seriously man
JK if it sucks I'll probably go smash the windows of a convenience store or like, go bait people on the internet or something. This is serious business and you must know my supreme anguish.
All of old. Nothing else ever. Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

Actually I am chill and this thread was just for fun until Mr. New York decided to bash my crap username for no reason really. When the album is played tomorrow and it's great guess what you can come back here and shit on me all you want!

yes.
and to offer a completely objective and unbiased scientific opinion ... it is fucking awesome.
i dont care what your favorite BOC is - there is something in this for everyone. i predict a lot of top 3 and top 5 lists will see a shuffle.
i almost collapsed in the desert when i heard the next to last track - Come To Dust. holy christ in a chicken basket. i have not been the same since.
I'm actually not worried at all. I've liked everything they've put out pretty much. They're awesome.
I guess there's always a chance I won't like it. In which case I'll probably just get on with my life and listen to their stuff I do like. Sounds amazing from what I've heard though.

fear not friends, this release will deliver.
Is there anything along the lines of kid for today, everything you do is a balloon, slow this bird down, turquoise hexagon sun, sixtyniner vibe?
I've been listening to the 50 min rip of Dolores for days (missing the last 2.5 tracks). I think I would only judge harshly if the album felt insincere or forced in any way, which it doesn't. All told it seems like it'll be a strong album, not hitting any ridiculous heights, but not disappointing either.
Unless you're expecting Geogaddi 2, which it certainly isn't. I'd say it's a pretty direct extension of the TCH-TCHep sound. It is less detailed, with more silences and spaces, but is overall quite mellow and not menacing, I think. It's not even as creepy and insular-sounding as Twoism or MHTRTC (thinking tracks like Oirectine, Turquoise Hex Sun).
If anything, it feels a bit tentative - some of the tracks cut off just as they're starting to get good. This very brief review seems to match my opinion so far: http://www.theskinny.co.uk/latest/30488 ... ws_harvest
Even if the album wasn't what my expectations were up to I feel like I could still appreciate the quality and time BOC spent making it. Kinda what happened with the new daft punk album. I love it for the fact that its new Daft Punk but I wouldn't call it a masterpiece. BOC just hasn't disappointed me yet I guess.
as they say in an interview, they like to live with their music for a while (a long while) before anything sees a release, so they have a high threshold of quality control.
even if you are not immediately blown away by individual tracks or melodies or whatever you are looking for, you know that it will be very conscientiously made, and there will be something there that will be rewarding down the line.

i am seeing a theme with your track selections - the slower, subdued goodies. yes?
obviously its so subjective as to specific sounds but if you tend to like the slower heavier stuff - this album will blow your mind. thats not to say there aren't some beautifully bright and upbeat flavors as well. i keep seeing the description "dark" and while thats not untrue, i have instead been using "heavy, expansive, and huge sound" and my feel after listening to the tracks (slow or fast) was that TH is kinetic. i feel movement. each song for me is like a soundtrack for a short film. first BOC track album where i like all but one track - this is just huge for me. i was thinking of doing my own track by analysis - but i figure there's been a lot of that and everyone is saturated.
anyway - yes, i honestly feel you will have some new favorites with TH.
cant wait to hear everyone's thoughts after the 3rd.

christ, thats what i was going to say almost exactly like you but was holding back and that review from Skinny i was going to reference. yea a lot of the tracks drop out, but surely intentional. its a kind of brave technique creating an almost lost feeling, desperate for more so they may have wanted that to happen. its hard to digest that aspect, feels awkward. less detailed for sure, there won't be much things to find on repeat listens here like Geogaddi. well pared down this.

I don't know how you can comment on how detailed it is when you haven't even heard a real version of it.
