I had noticed how popular Sennheisers were in this thread.

Just checked the spec for the 650's - cabled? Probably sound the biz but I like to be able to wander when I listen on headphones.

Mine are pretty ancient now but do the job quite well still.
Cabled every time man! Those wireless things sound compressed to hell.

Got a pair of Sennheiser HD485 which certainly did the trick when RFTD came out :) Lots of low-end, great sound quality.

I'm never going to listen to the actual album but instead just imagine how it sounds INSIDE MY BRAIN.
Booom click wowowowow clack thump ding dong. For an hour, not including tea break.
When we come home, we want it quiet and calm,
We want you to sing us a song.

so im very tempted to go to my local record shop that has in the past put new released out the weekend before the tuesday release date

i know they will be getting BoC because i asked the dude but whether or not he will put it out over the weekend or whether i even want to get it before tuesday is another question

i want my first listen to be in my car, a buzz on, driving the backroads at night with the windows down and the album cranked

It won't be my first listen since I'm listening tomorrow, but I'm planning on going to the harkness tower courtyard at Yale. It's one of my favorite places to listen to music. There are these giant oak trees that are really comfortable to lean against and the view is beautiful. It's kind of cool to be able to hear the carillon in the background sometimes too

Since I'll need to be at the computer for the stream, I'm just going to "drive" around the desert on Google Earth street-view. Probably around the Yermo CA area. I just hope that loading the street-view images won't make the stream choppy. My connection isn't that terrible though, so I'm thinking it won't be a problem.

Posted this link before, but what the hell. I'll be listening to the album in the exact same spot as the video, hopefully anyway!

i spent a bunch going analog playback for this album, and now i don't know if i can even emotionally handle listening to it. boc really did it with this one,at least as far as i can experience them. now i can see what a member here meant by being afraid of listing to certain tunes on geogiaddi...the sounds from harvest are just ripping me apart
come on now man... seriously?
But for me, probably in this wilderness preservation place, in the desert area, with a bonfire and some friends, and some molly. I'll be bringing along a decent ghetto blaster.. lol

This will be my first time listening to a BoC work directly upon its release, since I only got into them in the months following The Campfire Headphase. Needless to say, I'm excited. I've pre-ordered the vinyl, and plan on sitting in my darkened room on my beanbag and letting it go from there...

Where:

Probably at home.

How:

High.

But not on weed. That's too cliche. This is a special occasion.
Okay...now...wait for fog machine.

given the dark tone of this album and the amount of detailed layers there obviously are in the music, i feel like it'd be kind of distracting to do anything else beside listen while it's playing i.e. take a walk go somewhere scenic etc... for my first time digesting this new set of tunes i think i'll just be lying on my bed after work with eyes closed and headphones on. nothing fancy...drug use will come later

this was the only pic I could find taken in the courtyard, kind of gives an idea of what the lighting is like. It's a really great place to hang out. I don't go to school there, but I explore the campus all the time, it's gorgeous.

Also if you bring in the sheet music they will play anything for you on the carillon. I want to get them to play ROYGBIV. Someone took me on a date where went to the top of the tower and got them to play a Kate Bush song.

pretty picture of it lit at night
