Talking about BoC on dutch talkshow....
Anyone fancy transcribing that? google/youtube translate is shite.

Would love to see this translated too. All I could understand was them describing MHTRTC as having a unique sound. I google translated (and reversed the order of, so they read chronologically) the comments below it though, which is better than nothing.

2. Oh brrr. The word 'dubstep' in the same sentence as Boards of Canada is not good.
3. I never understood the hate for TCH. The whole album. The simple songs that yet again sounded very complex. TCH is for me the most listened album, if I'm in a bad mood I'll put that record on and all my problems are gone again. I can easily melt into Chromakey Dreamcoat. The great building Peacock Tail. The fantastic climax of Dayvan Cowboy. And then you have another songs like Hey Saturday Sun, Satelite Anthem Icarus and '84 Pontiac Dream.
4. And I have not even talked about the end of the album Farewell Fire. I really feel TCH is a great record. Each song is quiet and summery, perfect to dream away and about. You worry even I therefore totally disagree with Bob Rusche. They sometimes say'' Less is More'' This totally sums TCH up for me.
5. Not that it is completely denied in this interview but .... BoC use and do like digital gear. I found today ... "Already we were sampling our own instruments Then we went back to something closer to our original spirit:. Simple and instinctive, the only difference being that from then on, we could use all the wonders of DIGITAL technology, and so it was a lot easier to experiment and to get what we wanted. "

They start off by explaining what went on during the ARG. (there's no new or interesting information here, they just discuss the number station records on record day, the broadcast in Tokyo, the listening party in the desert, etc., so I won't bother translating it in greater detail)
Then the interviewer asks what makes BoC special, why are they are as popular as they are.
Old guy says they (specifically referring to MHtRtC) had a unique sound. Young guy says the music takes a fairly long time to grow on you, and that's the beauty of it.
Old guy starts a brief penis measuring contest by saying he instantly loved it. He says this in a fairly arrogant and condescending way and emphasizes it quite a bit.
There is some noticeable awkwardness and the interviewer saves the situation by asking Young Guy about his interview with BoC.
Young Guy interviewed them for the release of TCH. BoC only spoke to 1 journalist per country, but did give them a 2 hour interview in Glasgow. The brothers are very normal guys. They apparently don't know their way around Glasgow at all. Marcus is a very social, witty, handsome young man. Mike is a very depressed guy. They were very open about this. Mike says that when he's depressed, which happens regularly, he looks to his childhood for comfort.
This is why their music feels so nostalgic. There's a certain innocence, naivety, playfulness in the music. A lot of electronic music is future oriented, and BoC have made a conscious decision to go in the opposite direction. Music evokes an emotional response because the listeners recognize themselves in it. There's a certain melancholy feeling of lost youth, something you used to have but which is now lost, and people identify with that. Their music is gloomy, TH ends in a very dark way as well.
Young and Old both like the combination of melancholy and playfulness. They both like that it's not the search for perfection found in a lot of electronic music, it isn't as cold, mechanical. It almost sounds as if the music was made in the 70s.
Old Guy isn't fond of TCH, it was very disappointing compared to MHtRtC and Geogaddi. On the third track of TH he knew it was a lot better than TCH.
Young Guy disagrees; he absolutely loved the deepness of the final three tracks on TCH.
Old Guy says it's as if BoC collected a bunch of random tracks they had lying about and tossed them together to form an album. TH is much more cohesive, there's one track he disliked slightly. (it isn't mentioned which one it is)
Young Guy says: BoC struggle with the many different influences they want to incorporate in their music. On TCH they used a lot of guitars and folk influences for the first time.
Old Guy states you can't hear when TH was recorded (Young Guy agrees). It could have been recorded in 97, or 3 months ago. It's completely analogue, they barely make use of a computer. That's why their sound has barely evolved; which is fine. It's not influenced by new popular styles of electronic music. Interviewer, Young and Old all agree that they'd be disgusted if TH had turned into a dubstep album. They both want BoC to keep making the same style of music, because they're very consistently good in doing so.
And that's the gist of it. Formatting is awful, as is the general style of writing, but I'm afraid I'm living on a couple of hours of sleep, so this is the best I can do at the moment.

I'm just a friendly stranger. 
I had to google that, I wasn't aware there was a band named Anathema when I chose this nickname. I'm only vaguely familiar with them as a band now. I've heard this album and Judgment, I think. Certainly not bad stuff, but I wasn't compelled to listen to either more than once. (yet)
You're right though, it does look quite similar indeed!

I have a feeling that Mike Sandison is an utopist trying to understand life, and becoming obsessed by certain things and depressed by the Absurd and Randomness of life.
