I re-listened to the whole album on my morning commute. Afterward, I started to listen to something else, but I couldn't stop thinking about New Seeds - it really grabbed me on this listen. So I put it back on and it literally moved me to tears. It feel like I've been hearing hints of this song all my life, and now to finally hear it in all its glory was a very intense experience.

I thought the same thing, a really interesting departure for BoC in the style of loads of my other favourite music.thepastinsidepressant wrote:Guthrie, Shields, The Cure, heck pretty much any 80s 4AD records style oceanic rock this one could of came from.

Oh, so it actually was New Seeds that had that part? I genuinely couldn't remember, I just remember making the correlation between that one part and Audiotrack 14a, and know that I really enjoyed New Seeds. Was the part that I'm thinking of the use of the phone interference noise that people are referring to? There's so much I can't visualise (or auralise?) from the stream now. Really need to hear the tracks again and learn them!MindElevation wrote:Ah shit yeah. This track is defintiely related to Audiotrack 14a.
New Seeds is fast becoming my new favourite. The rhythmic opening, all strings + bass, then the drums, then the main chords, and then that trademark BOC choir. One hell of a way to build a track.
And when you think the point's made, those final chords do their killer thing and you know you're going to be hooked for many plays to come.
(oh, and then top the whole thing off by sneakily fading in and out the Cosecha signal - as if the rest wasn't enough!)

Everything about this track is actually amazing!
From the beaty guitar which yes reminds me of the track from the Old Tunes,
to the dissonance at the end of it...then the last drone from the record store day XXXXXX.
AAA+

You know that "blip ba da blip ba da blip ba da buzzzzzzz" sound that you hear sometimes through speakers or headphones right before your cellphone is about to ring? It sounds like the brothers used those sounds to make part of the rhythm of New Seeds. You can hear it very well at the very beginning of which the whole song builds off of. Does anyone else hear that? Or at least know what I mean?

ahhh ok, so after i looked up a little more about that ringtone i just posted about, i think we're talking about the same thing -- that ringtone is one of the default rings on my phone and it's totally based on that kind of interferenceElexen wrote:You know that "blip ba da blip ba da blip ba da buzzzzzzz" sound that you hear sometimes through speakers or headphones right before your cellphone is about to ring?
