might have been a high quality stream but the difference between that and the Itunes previews on itunes japan are quite big. I'd guess it was a case of bandwidth artifacts and compression as well as however it was ripped from the stream.seanandcandy wrote:mmm on paper, but you hear it fred......you hear it and its just DIFFERENTFredd-E wrote:But the stream source was VBR 220kbps->300kbps @ 48khz.seanandcandy wrote:
Isn't it silly Warp hasn't digitally released it yet?

It's released in Japan early, to prevent them buying cheaper american or european import copies of the album, due to the higher cost of living over there.Quillz wrote:It's AD 2013. I see no reason whatsoever there has to be another week for the official American release. It's the age of digital music... Japan is getting it today, just release it today, worldwide, for those who want it digitally. And if you want it on CD, vinyl, whatever, understand it might take a little bit longer.
Really don't see why it isn't just being released today everywhere, but whatever. It's only going to hurt the record label in the end, since by not releasing it now, it's just going to cause more people to download rips, leaks, etc.
That's not true.Solstice wrote:It's released in Japan early, to prevent them buying cheaper american or european import copies of the album, due to the higher cost of living over there.Quillz wrote:It's AD 2013. 2000 JPY is like 20 USD. That's almost the same price.
I guess it depends on which source the mp3s were encoded from to begin with. iTunes uses the full 24-bit studio masters to encode it's AAC files. Maybe that could explain the difference? Youtube audio always sounds horribly compressed to me.seanandcandy wrote:mmm on paper, but you hear it fred......you hear it and its just DIFFERENTFredd-E wrote:But the stream source was VBR 220kbps->300kbps @ 48khz.seanandcandy wrote:
Historically that's the reason though, and generally music still costs more there and/or is released later than most other places. Nowadays it has become a commonplace convention regardless.bdzz wrote:That's not true.

$20? wow that's expensive. It's £8.99 in the UK, that's about $13.50. I couldn't open that link, so i assume that's the CD.bdzz wrote:That's not true.Solstice wrote:It's released in Japan early, to prevent them buying cheaper american or european import copies of the album, due to the higher cost of living over there.Quillz wrote:It's AD 2013. I sure am, one would think that if you pre-order it on the first day through the official webshop you would at least get the same stuff as you get when you pre-order from the record stores.lyrical wrote:I wouldn't mind a poster and some stickers, but i can't see a poster coming with a Bleep order. Bit disappointed with pre-ordering from Bleep.
If anticipating something new, I'm not ordering through Bleep anymore.

Ill echo this......
yes, out of all of this.....the music is the most important bit for me
I will as many have said, be very disappointed if i don't end up with a poster, stickers etc. Perhaps I naively assumed that being among the hype crowd on here and busting our nuts to solve problems and jumping on a pre-order within seconds of us sussing it would at least give us something just that wee bit extra to the rest who just saunter down to a local indy and buy the disc.
And I dont see a poster arriving with my cd and vinyl to be honest
