Is there a TH Pre-Gap Track?

Yesterday on the I Overflow Man thread,

My CD player doesn't allow rewinding for pre-gap tracks. So I found some software here that rips pre-gap tracks: https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23430 ... ss-decoder

First I tested the software using UNKLE's Psyence Fiction, and it ripped the pre-gap track from that album ok.

Then I put in my copy of the Japanese Tomorrow's Harvest (which says "I Overflow Man" at the top of the CD).

And... nothing. Meaning either there is no hidden pregap track, or they have done it in a way that this particular software doesn't allow access to it (I don't know too much about the technical side of how it is done).

Anyway, all this would be ok, if it weren't for the fact that I was chatting with my friend in the UK who has a promo copy of Tomorrow's Harvest, and suddenly without me saying anything about it, he said "It's weird it has a track before the first one you gotta rewind to hear." I asked him more and he said "yer not missing much it's like a 70's style tv advert that has blips and samples thru it for a bit then just cuts into Gemini."

I asked him if he could rip it and upload it, but he hasn't replied yet.

So either there IS a pre-gap track on some versions of the album, or my friend is just playing a late April Fool's gag on me, knowing how much I really want there to be a pre-gap track!

Anyway, though it was worth mentioning here so people can check it out.

And thanks to Harpoon Dodger for raising the question in the first place! I remember the days when the first thing I did after buying any new CD was testing for a pre-gap!

Could he possibly just be referring to the little fanfare at the beginning?

hmmm...you guys dont even have the album in hand yet and you want more.
this kinda disheartens me. we just got something HUGE on the horizon we had been waiting for....then kind of started accepting wasnt gonna happen....now is HERE.

and you want more?

That's what I thought too. The fanfare is such a good way to start, it seems strange they would include another (albiet hidden) intro.

But like you said, here's hoping!

(PS. That fanfare totally reminds me of my Blade Runner Gongo bootleg, which was my favourite album for years. I was so happy when I heard one on Tomorrow's Harvest too! In fact, I thought there was a little bit of a Blade Runner vibe going all through TH!)

If you read through the other thread where I suggested that, I believe a few people with copies of the Japanese TH CD already said it doesn't have a pregap track. I was kinda disappointed but then again there's 17 shiny new tracks for us all to absorb! I'm glad somone else appreciates oldschool hidden tracks like me

Like you suggest though, maybe there IS a hidden track elsewhere on the CD? It was always typical to have it as Track 0, but if I'm not mistaken there have been cases where a hidden track is accessed when scanning through the middle/toward the end of a song on an album. The Offspring's Americana had one hidden in the LAST track, to hear it you had to fast forward a bit toward the end of the song..which let you hear a "miriachi"/Mexican-style rendition of "Pretty Fly for a White Guy". This was the first hidden track I ever discovered wayyy back when I was in the 6th Grade

So keep hunting, I say!!

It is too bad we gave you that impression. At least for my part I am so glad that we have a new album and I wont be all "aw man" if there is no hidden track.

It's just that if there is ever a prospect of even more material from these guys it is something to look into. We aren't just being greedy.

Yes there is definitely a Blade Runner vibe. And I bloody love the fanfare, was so pleasantly surprised by that. Red Moss anyone?

The beginning Fanfare, was it inspired by the first 5 seconds of The Ladd Company VHS Logo?

It's also at the beginning of Blade Runner. (Sorry, if this has already been talked about)

It only has a two-second pregap before the first track, so long story short: it is impossible that it has a pregap track.

one clever fellow has already done something similar on youtube (much to my delight) with Blade Runner. Blade Runner is my favorite film of all time and the opening salvo from our day in the desert (fanfare) to a good few minutes into Gemini (at least from what i saw on his youtube) match up nearly perfectly with the film and even the Vangelis soundtrack. in Blade Runner you would need to sync it up beginning with the LADD Company logo. its pretty trippy - big appreciation the guy who figured this out (i cant remember who but gave him a like on youtube).

no matter, whats cool is Blade Runner is definitely 80's scifi and it must have made their list of inspirational films ... pre-gap or not!

its nothing mate! with all the shenanigans around this release, i cant remember half of what i did yesterday let alone a week ago! but i do love tying in Blade Runner (my other favorite topic) to this one!

Do you remember how when Geogaddi was released, people thought that slowing a track down, you could hear stuff?

Maybe somewhere near the beginning, or end, there is a secret track that is only obtainable by having to slow it down to hear it?????!!!!!!
