Yeah I'm feeling the same way so far. I like it so far and will be giving it a lot of listens. To be honest I do miss his lo fi tape stuff, but I don't really expect him to keep doing that if he wants to move into other areas. I think he writes some great stuff, it's just not as "me" as the pre-warp albums, but still something I enjoy and I always like hearing him talk about making things, even if I don't always like the things he makes.

this is a step up over Mind Bokeh,

Kinda mixes his pre Warp days with his newer way of making records.

I enjoy it a lot, it's definitely growing on me.

Only problem is a problem he's always had, flow.

His records don't really flow from one track to the other, he just puts tracks out there and an occasional ambient piece somewhere.

You, Business Park and Look at Orion all kind of come out of nowhere after the first few tracks.

I thought he was going full on indie folk with this one, but he can't keep away from his electronics.

hope this helps! my vinyl just showed up as I was coming in from teaching this morning; the mail lady recognized it as an LP and smiled and said something about boys and their toys ("Jungs und ihre Spielzeuge..." für diejenigen, die Deutsch können) and wished me happy listening!

also- "À tout à l'heure" literally means "every hour" or something like that, right? And figuratively, it is something like "See you soon!" or something like that? The debate was raging last night at the dinner table but neither my girlfriend nor I speak French well enough to declare ourselves victor.

Actually, "à tout à l'heure" means "see you later", "see you soon". You say it to someone when you know you'll see him again in a few hours, it's a common french expression (like "bis dann" in German).
Now, just "tout à l'heure" without the "à" means "soon" or "later"

Listening to the full album for the first time properly right now. Must say, it is rather enjoyable so far

Been listening to this album for the first time today and honestly I'm a little bit underwhelmed.
I mean 'A tout a l'heure' is brilliant , def the best track on the album. But the rest hasn't really clicked with me yet..Maybe I need to be in a better mood and more sunny weather.

I agree with those that say that the flow is somewhat awkward and 'You' is out of place.
Don't really like that track.
Better give it some more listens.

Also, 'Look at Orion' sound familiar, does it share some of the same sounds from one of the tracks on 'Ambivalence avenue' ?

Really nice. I'm warming up to the album more and more lately, great stuff.

Indeed it does, when I first heard the album teaser and listenind to a snippet of Look at Onion I thought it was a remix of S'Vive (or maybe Sugarette, I don't remember exactly but it's one of those two). Weird that they are so similar. Although really it's not the only parallel (Fire Ant = You). I do like the album though, just not crazy about it.

I read the review at pitchfork and laughed. a 6.4... but then that is only .4 points lower than they gave "all of music"

I quite like this album. I'm not as crazy about look at orion or business park but again a lot of his songs have quite different outros than started everything off and I like both endings on these songs.. it was the same way on Take off your skirt.. what a great ending on that.

It definitely is a better album for me than Mind Bokeh. In any case I've found that while I love his electronic stuff I'm definitely liking his guitar work more these days.. very fond of Old Friends, Haikuesque, You Won't Remember.
