Old back catalogue revisit before T'sH - OTV2 problems!

Post by purgruv »

Having decided to treat myself to a BoC back catalogue revisit/relisten in the the run up to the official Europe release of T'sH, I've noticed a few track name errors and extreme track length differences in my 'copy' of Old Tunes Vol. 2.

I've compared with Fredd'E's listing on bocpages and noticed similar track lengths under different names and wondered if I should just rename and reorder as appropriate the tracks in iTunes.

Can anyone shed any light and maybe compare their copy of Old Tunes Vol. 2?

Below is the image of the bocpages listing and my iTunes listing with the tracks in error highlighted…

I have the same problem : (

And for some really annoying reason, my version of "Carcan" on A Few Old Tunes actually seems to be the one from "Boc Maxima" that fades into Nlogax at the end, not the isolated version that I heard on some You Tube version of the A Few Old Tunes tape.

I have two rips of Old Tunes Vol 2. The first one is 160kbps and the second one has about half the tracks in 192kbps. These 192kbps files pack a lot clearer and less muddy sound, so I assume they've been remastered by someone (or come from a different source, but that's less likely). My question is, does a full rip with these remastered tracks exist, or is the 160/192 mess the best we've got?

And while we're at it, I might as well ask if the 320kbps rip of Random 35 Tracks Tape is the only one floating around? It clicks like hell in some places (the end of A07 for example).

There is a version of Carcan/Devil on P2Ps where they are one track, all you need to do then is chop it up in itunes or other, which is what i did.

Anyway i think i managed to sort out (after several versions) my copy of OT v. 2, check the listing on bocpages for correct track lengths and ordering…

yeah i had that half track version until recently, you could use them for purism's sake and then mix in the rest of the tracks renaming any erroneous tracks based on bocpages, i found a version of Heysonna hosanna with the short film quote (Do sit down… the inspector wants to question me about Gary) placed as one track at the start, it made much more sense from there to go back renaming the tracks back to Iraq Says to the correct title
Btw after research the UFO that is David Came to Mahana'im really is a much more upbeat techno style number 4:39 long… good luck

I have that version of R35TT (I renamed to OT v. 1, as some sources quote it, and for linearity) and there are no clicks on it to my memory, try reencode or re d/l…

Why is it less likely? Two cassettes of the same thing might sound very different depending on the cassette used, how it has been stored, whether the mp3s were ripped sooner or later, whether they are first generation copies or not...

i was going to make a thread for this on its own, but this is relavant enough.

i've never heard old tunes. ever. when i really got into Boards of Canada and had Music, Campfire Headphase and In a Beautiful Place , Trans Canada Highway, etc. all at once I decided to save the early stuff for later .

i'm not familiar with downloading music. can anyone recommend a good source for the Old Tunes recordings?

We're probably the best source there is for the "rare" back catalogue…

A quick comparison indicates they come from the same source. The track lengths match, they begin and end exactly the same way, and the extra clarity suits the other remasters I've seen here (Boc Maxima, Random 35 Tracks Tape).

Would there really be two leaks of this tape, given the extreme rarity of Boards leaks in general? I'm doubtful, but then again, I also have two rips of A Few Old Tunes that are definitely different. That's not to say there's two leaks of that tape, just that there are at least two versions that are cut differently and have different sound quality.

This sure seems like a good thread to mention that I recently lost my copies of the live sets. What a bummer. Sure wish I had them again.

I wish someone would post MP3s of the slightly cleaned up versions that are on Youtube, mine are a mess.

Check these threads out. A link ought to be somewhere there, don't have time to dig right now, sorry.
