beautiful Ranier! my wife went to Albertus Magnus (she's from Meriden). i went to see her hometown and she showed me the beautiful Yale campus/architecture. nice choice for a listen!

cool, I dormed at albertus magnus for awhile (I went to paier). I wish I'd lived in new haven as a kid, I would have pretended it was my very own castle. I still do that sometimes actually

Well done to all of those hiking to a beautiful place out in the country etc for their 1st listen.

I'm picking up the CD at lunchtime tomorrow and - after discussion today - driving to Ikea to pick up some flat pack furniture. So my 1st listen will be in the car, going to Ikea. Evocative.

Still, at least my car has a decent soundsystem

I finally managed to get the download through a slow connection in the accommodation I am staying in down in the coffee region of Colombia. On a hangover day, after a night of too much rum the locals were gving me, I ended up listening to the album half crashed-out on my bed here.

First thoughts are I am *really* blown away. And that scares me a bit! I thought I would be more critical at first... but, there is a depth here, and a structure and harmony. It's as if TH shows BoC reaching to all aspects of their music; past and future - but, at times, climbing to some of the most 'awesome' (to use the word in the correct sense) heights. It is coherent and beautiful... and I'm so glad for it

Kinda hard to believe this moment has finally come after (what felt like) so long.

i still havent listened to tomorrow's harvest yet.

i went downtown and purchased it after work today.. but i decided to hang out with a friend who works next to the record shop, instead of rushing home and listening.

i have the cd lying next to me right now, unopened, still in the package. but i am going to hold off on listening until the perfect moment, sometime in the next few days.

ive waited this long for it. im making sure i do it the right way.

i love all you guys. im so happy to be able to communicate with people who appreciate BOC's music as much as i do.

cheers to you mate - there is something to be said for patience. your reward will be a memorable one. i tend to obsess about 'first listen' (phone turned off, send wife to movies with friend, lights down, headphones, glass of scotch, etc.) and can appreciate waiting for just the right moment.

However, just as Come to Dust was peaking two kids came from out of the darkness (stoned to the gourd, I imagine...) saying they were really digging what they were hearing, and I gave them the name of the band. a most memorable evening last night. after the perfect desert listening i wanted to try something different - so i did what i do. finally had time to break away from work but only late in the eve and went to my planned destination: Fort Ord, an abandoned military base (a hub of activity during WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and Desert Storm - then shut down cold in the 90's).

2,700 ACRES of land, buildings, and infrastructure literally abandoned in place. its massive - i cannot describe the scope of the place and all of it is pure desolation.

so i went alone to this wasteland and snuck in armed with my best ear monitors in ear, my camera in hand, and lenses on back. light was going so it was perfect! beautiful, eerie, and exciting (not being able to hear anything but the music). i shot everything real time so i never had an idea of what was around the corner or up the stairs or in the room that i entered. had the best time scaring the shit out of myself but the music drove me forward. i don't recall ever having such a visceral listening experience.

a video is soon to follow ('Come To Dust' is pretty much a ringer) ...

i went to the old water towers in my favorite forest when the sun came up. it is my fav place to listen to music and its where i always have my TCH listening sessions. usualy the sun is coming thru the leaves when i chose to do it and i have a realy great light nostalgia time . this was much diferent, i didnt plan for it to rain and the whole thing had a super natural darkness to it. i didnt see a single person the whole time it was just and my head phone and my make shift turban which i made to covver the headphones from the rain. i saw a deer and a rabbit and that was the only life in the world. it was the most ominous boc experience and it was as great as i expected but actually NOTHING like i expected. which is really waht i wanted.

i was standing here when telepath happened and it felt like the radio signals were from psychic dimension beings trying 2 get at my soul

the fact that i did the listening session in that place gave me a unexpected effect of lost memories in a much darker tone . memories of the world that i love right now , like some bleak future which we are going towards , where those things that happened are gone . the boc i loved is gone and they have maybe even gone a totaly dif direction in life than i epxected they were. but they are still amonst the greatest artists i know . and it inspired me for my own purpose and my own path and made me see things in a compltely dif perspective . thanks 4 reading plz enjoy the picture.

Meh, I went through the first 11 pages of threads in this subforum to track down an applicable thread. There has beem so much awesome activity on this forum since the new album, that who knows if this is the right place to post this. I finally put together 4 pics of my initial listening position. I camped out at the salt flats in eastern nevada. I am interested in seeing pics of everyone else's first listen!

the sunset was intense, as were the stars that night. i got a timelapse vid of the milky way, but grabbed some stills from it. i put together my first attempt at a "star stack" as well...

my TH listening location:
