Lazy journalism, they gave TCH 5/5 back in 2005!

So they had Simon Reynolds, who is considered one of the best music journalists around, review The Campfire Headphase. He gives it 5/5. And now we have this numpty, who rated Frank Ocean number one for 2012 (I couldn't help noticing Tame Impala's 'Lonerism' was nowhere to be seen in his top ten) talking out of his ass about TCH??? At least it didn't appear in the print version... and he avoided mentioning Daft Punk.

The Guardian should have had the guy who interviewed BOC review the album.

Rife with mistakes, as is becoming the norm for Guardian's mediocre journalism as of late...

It's "Tomorrow's Harvest", not "Tomorrow's World" for chrissakes, how could you miss that one? And the guy in Telepath is counting up, not down. And the title of Music Has the Right to Children was certainly not "pro-internet".

Oh my! Fucking wow! I'm going to do it again right now! I feel sorry for the lot of you who spoiled it early listening to low-qual etc...
Having said that, I decided to to buy my daughter a 3DS LL and a game for her birthday instead of investing in headphones.
I have enjoyed the album through iPhone5 earphones and I'm going to do so right now again. MHTRTC is the benchmark for me,... so far it hasn't hit it.
Ergo, I'm listening again!

Donno why there's another one, the one I posted is what Metacritic took into account anyway.

one was the guardian, one was the observer. they're essentially the same thing though.
i liked both reviews but not sure why she gave the album only 3 stars when she does nothing but praise it.

Pitchfork gave it an 8.3.

It's the review I agree with the most though. The album is deceptively simple and minimal, but there are tons of virtually unconscious textures, and is just as complicated in that sense as any of their past works if no more so. And each listen you practically have to pick just a couple of textures to follow along with the groove because of the layers, so then on a second listen you might pick a few of the other textures to accompany the groove and hear a subtly different tune.

I guess Richardson said it better than I could by saying they've went inward instead of skirting the edges looking for new sounds, but all the same, the brothers still sound like BoC but completely different in a lot of ways.

Instead of evoking the past as it is, it's kinda like they are trying to evoke the past of a future that has yet to occur - in the present. Or some shit. Retro-futuristic was a great term to describe it, dunno where I heard that mentioned though.
