The Pitchfork review is largely un-Pitchforky by actually discussing the content of the music. Not bad, if we're playing their numbers game I'd put in the low to mid 9s, but it got a better review than I thought it would.

Thats a cool press photo.

A nice positive review. BUT; the "2005`s disappointing Campfire Headphase"? Says who? What a Jackass, he could have at least stated that it was his personal opinion and not a generic straight up fact.

I hate music journalists, bunch of music snobs who try to dictate what is good and what is not, people don't need to listen to these monkeys. Just make your own mind up and think for yourself.

As for that NME one above. FFS!!

/small rant, feeling better :)
Could not have put it better myself. What a dipshit for making a generalised statement like that. TCH is my FAVORITE album... (personal pref).

I don't know if it's riding hype right now or what, but I think this is the best alb8n they have ever made (that I've heard).

This, yes.

This review is incredibly well written. Good job Pitchfork.

Although, to be nit-picky, 8.3 is pretty low on their chart for BNM. I've always found that Pitchfork tends to be... a little more generous with BNM ratings if they tend to "like" the band. I wonder if the reviewer wasn't originally going to give TH a BNM and then it was added afterwards by the reviews editor.
Hrm...

as an open pitchfork hater i have to admit that was a pretty well written review. the author avoided a lot of the writing that makes a terrible music review. mentioning M.C Escher was nice.

although i think saying "there isn't music trickiness to the percussion" is inaccurate.

i realized all the good reviews i've read, such as mbv, were written by this same guy who has been there since '98. the editor-in-chief.
