If they hate promotional work so much, why did they allow Warp to promote TH so much??

Because they're real people who play the game they have to play, not the pan-dimensional hyperhexagon gods that can adjust people's will by spinning at 600rpm as they emit a 1kHz tone that you fantasize about moving in with.

The promotion for Tomorrow's Harvest (so far) didn't involve them promoting in traditional means so much as it did planning an artistic way of presenting a product.

It was an honest question; I personally liked all the promotion that went along with the album, they just seem so against it in interviews.

Well if you think about it, the promotion of the album basically avoided excessive use of social media in the traditional sense, live stream of the album aside. It relied on Youtube videos for some of the clues but the only "social" place they got into the mix was Twoism. Everything else took place in public places or on television. The promotion was also a Warp thing, I'm sure there's some sort of clause that lets them promote the album, giving BoC some sort of veto power of the process.

I doubt it was the band that let a late night cartoon channel for pot heads use their music for their commercials. Just saying.

Make sure to read them both. Especially the second one will provide you with much insights.

it was a good interview. I'm glad they shedded some light on our world's current affairs. It's obvious that TH is a concept album of the same weight.

Because an artist's promotional work for an album release of this size will usually involve weeks of press, radio and tv across dozens of countries, and a live campaign that can last up to two years. Warp and BoC have found ways to publicize the album in a way that suits the ethos and lifestyle of the band.

the only traditional promotional work the band have done so far is the Guardian interview. the rest has been designed and executed by Warp with BoC's consent and cooperation.

niiice. thank you freddie.

and yes, boc has a responsibility to warp and i think warp did a great job working with them to do it in a way that was truly unique. it pretty much owns any other record promotion i've seen in regards to creativity.

Agreed. Not only that but the style of the promotion was pretty much tailor made for BOC fans. It's what we wanted. Can't imagine how I would have felt seeing them turn up on late night chat shows etc..
